Roleplaying with Jabba.. Possible? (Direct linked pics)

Okay, so I've been racking my brain as to how to RP with jabba for that more "Star Warsy" feeling. I think I've found it. There's a client side mod (It's not cheating, merely replacing one art file with another) that allows you to turn your droid into our one and only hutt. This would free up some "Jabba's only in one place ever" problem.. Good ol' Jabba can now visit people where ever, whenever. And let me tell you, it makes bounties all the more fun with the hutt looking over your shoulder (Makes sense when you're paid right away, too). Anyway, if you'd all like to have a jabba, here's what he looks like.. Oh, and there's a tactical skinsuit to Boba Fett mod too. Adds to the effect..

A visit paid to Dossk...

The negotiations were long and difficult..

Finally, with Dossk deciding to remain freelance, Jabba decides to follow him into the streets of Espa.. An all time lowpoint for the hutt.. Begging a trandoshan and all.

There's tons of mods, but if we all got this one (I believe there's an R3 to Jabba mod too.. If you're all game, we should decide), it'd not only be simple, it'd be a welcome change to Star Wars as a whole. The SWG mods site can be found here.

I don't promote the use of mods as it can get you banned.

I'm not saying its wrong, but its a violation of the contract that you click agree to everytime you play.

Jabe is correct... However I have done, and continue to do many worse things in this life, But I won't on starwars cause it can be taken away from me :)

It's only switching the artwork in the game around on your computer. The mods you agree to on the TOS is something such as speed hacks and the like, which I don't use, but I don't see how switching art for art (both of which found in the game) is considered a TOS violation...

Then there's the fact that they said art switches isn't a TOS violation at Fan Fest, so I'll use 'em 'till they change their minds.

I don't think client sod modding is covered in the agreement. I don't necessary think they endorse it either, but if you are not affecting the gameplay of others then I don't see anything harmful about it. I mean if you want to make you speeder look like a Chocobo go for it, it makes no difference to anyone else.

Oooh, thanks for that Info :)

It may have to do with the fact that your tampering with their files to create gameplay that they didnt intend the software to do necessarly. Even though its on your computer, its still their copyright which means your infringing it when you tamper with things in the files (unless explicitly instructed to by the copyrightee).

Thats my legal take on it, but I'm no laywer. Yeah I think its communist to.

I applaud your Role Play innovations, Dossk, but all legal questions aside, these mods only affect your personal view of whatever art you switch, right?

So as far as RP goes it'd be good for an individual scene like you have done, but for a group effect wouldn't others be looking at a droid while you're seeing Jabba?

I personally would love to play Jabba or have an SWG employee do it for us, but that's another story.

(Back in the early days SWG was supposed to have digiteers but it didn't happen. Not really pissed about it as more fundamental game issues eclipsed this as an issue for me.)

Sorry for the delay.. Space, you know. :D

Well, yes.. You see, to other people, they'd see a bunch of role players talking to a droid. That alone'd kind of up the "man wtf are they doing?!" factor. But for small gatherings, it'd be fine.

Exactly, unless they too had the modification, and let me set the record straight (again) - all this modification is is one folder named appearance in your SWG folder with an art switch file. It's not a game hack, and the term mod should be used loosely. I asked at fanfest, and it carries as much weight as dropping the dual log notepad file (a directive that lets you log two accounts on one computer) into the SWG folder. I am not a crook!

Oh, believe me.. I remember. And I'm still asking people here and there if they're going to go through with it, because it's mine (and everyone elses) dream job.

I'm not trying to get people booted or offend anyone in any way. I'm merely trying to suggest alternative ways of roleplaying a scene or two, in order to enhance what we've got.
