Everquest 2

Well I traded in some PS2 games I don't play anymore and I got my hands on EQ2 for 16 bucks. I am very glad I did, because it has reminded me that we have it made in SWG. EQ2 is quite possibly the worst game I have played in recent memory.

All male characters are locked in to a mode of being fat and stocky. Apparently there are no clothing designers as you are forced to pick clothing color during character creation. You can not have a last name (so much for RP'ing anything with family lineage). The game plays in wide screen and the devs seem to purposely use a blurring effect to reduce the sharpness of the world. The default control mappings are rediculous, you have to have both mouse buttons depressed to move about. Having nice things like your character history and badges logged cost extra over the $14.99/month fee.

As far as I can tell there are about 5 professions, maybe there are elite professions, I don't know. To be honest I hated it before I finished the character creation screens, but I gave it a chance and did some fighting.

I don't know how MMO's like this stay in business when games like SWG are out there. I really felt like I was playing something that dated back to the MS-DOS days. I am just blown away by how bad it sucked. I am going to try it a second time and see if I can just change the grapgical options and controls to at least make it behave decently, but to be honest I can't see myself playing a game where my character looks so damn stupid.

While I haven't even seen a screen of EQ2, Jabe, all of what I am hearing echoes your comments in some form or another.

I thought of trying EQ2 just to see for myself. I'm a serial "popular opinion bucker", preferring to make calls based on what I actually experienced myself. Though, I have friends there I stopped short because I figured I might as well try out a new company as well as game.

I do know a veteran RP community there, though. I'll refer you if you're still interested.

MxO and MEO are the only ones that capture my interest long enough to look at screenies or ask someone in them...but I'm here for the theme and content (however much we get), and I'm here to stay. :)
