What did you do...

What did you do before you played SWG?

For me I fought in BF 1942. I use to be in the clan of the 206th. I played that game for like two years then SWG came out.

Played on textual RPG MUCKs and by-email RPG groups. Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern fandom for about five years until about a year ago, Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time fandom for a good while and did that while playing Galaxies until recently, also directly before Galaxies I was heavily into an X-Men MUCK that was based directly after the first movie and drew heavily from the comics. SWG is my first MMO.

UO was my first but it was after everyone had all the fun with it, but i did play a bit befor the whole non-pvp world came in. I played SWG from launch till DEC 27th, then started out the new year with Shadowbane which i liked for 3 weeks, then moved on to FFXI which was alright but i hated forced grouping.Took about a month off and signed back up with galaxies after Americas Army got boring.

The last games I played were MS-DOS based games like Star Control and the old school Lucas Arts "multimedia" games like X-Wing versus Tie Fighter and the original Myst for Windows 95. I quit playing PC games for nearly 7 years until Seret convinced me to try SWG.

Now I am hooked on SWG and this morning for the first time I tried another MMORPG, Everquest 2. Nothing beats SWG.

Immediately before playing SWG I played a game called Freelancer about a space mercenary caught up in interstellar intrigue. I dug it because you could smuggle drugs and quarantined alien artifacts :D . Space combat was also semi-realistic in regards to inertia.

Before that I played a bunch of Civilizations and other console games.

Took a break from SWG in October 2003 and played Kotor, Jedi Academy, and Call of Duty which were all slick. Picked up SWG again in February 2004.

I started out on UO played it for a few months then i tried everquest for about the 2 days it took to realize it sucked after that i got into Starcraft pretty heavy then i pretty much stopped doing any heavy gaming until Final Fantasy Online but like Kirt said the force grouping sucked so i eventually lost interest about 6 months after FFO decided to pick SWG up and so far the only thing that im not liking about it is the Devs

Like Lok'i said, I was a founding member of the Battlefiend 1942 clan, The Mad Monkey Brigade. We also were a founding clan of a large alliance of clans called the Call of the Wild Alliance. All that means is we had a LOT of friends to play BF1942 with. I have to say we were probably bigger fans of Desert Combat, my god was that a good mod (and for the record the developers of the Desert Combat mod are now the team working on EA's new Battlefield II).

And on top of all that I am and always will be a hardcore gamer. I'll play anything on any of the systems thats intersting.

Well, up until this past July...I played UO for 7 years. Was the most famous evil Rper on my shard...even still so in its history. My guild on UO was called the Kingdom of Golgotha, and I played its undead king Lich Soulstealer for the first three years. Shortly after the war of shadows, I brought fourth the undead god of the Golgothan people...Lord Vecna (Same as the D&D lich god) and ruled with him for almost another 3 years before perminant retirement to SWG which I had also be playing since beta. At the high point of my empire I had around 200 members spanning across 6 player towns. I've led armies of hundereds of players into epic battles on foot and horseback, as well as ruled almost an entire MMO map.

I still go back to stratics and Uo.com read the old stories of my people and our exploits. I enclosed a small one below about the Candle of Leadership, and my luitenant's orchestraiting its capture:

Treachery at Journey's End
Lady Morila Jan 18 2001 6:26PM

There were some brave fellows the evening last, who gathered to begin a journey to right a wrong. The Candle of Leadership was lost to a group of Ogres. I was trying to bring it to the safety of a bank vault on Ocollo when I was ambushed on the way to town from the shore. I managed to survive the attack, but an Ogre Lord relieved me of my pack. I quickly proceeded to gather a group of friends from the Journey's End Tavern to retrieve the lost item. All seemed to be going well, until something else occurred that I was not prepared for at all.

Still new to the fellowship at Journey's End, I did not know that all who frequent the tavern are not honorable and trustworthy. As it turned out, two in our party had conspired to take the candle for themselves. One nasty fellow named Lich Soulstealer had gained the help of another named Xan and had convinced him to keep the candle when it was retrieved, and subsequently turn it over to him. When they attempted to return this sacred item to me, it had been reduced to a normal candle. I claimed that this was not the candle I sought. Regardless, the candle's absence has become know to me. And, as such, we have taken on the arduous task of crafting a new one.

The ingredients are still not all known to me, but for this night we have retrieved the Grinder of Gak from Lord Irvin of Cyclops Valley. At first, he was more interested in sending a group of Mages after us than speaking to us. At our pleading, and the shouting of others for Xan to stop trying to kill this evil Lord, we did gain enough of his attention to request the needed item. In return, he has told us that we will need to perform some task at his bequest in the future. This alone has me worried, though we have retrieved the first item and there will be more to gather henceforth.

When we returned to the tavern, Lich Soulstealer claimed to have control of the candle's energy. However this is not confirmed, it is only known that the candle does not exist in its original form. The simple act of holding the candle with evil thoughts would be enough to destroy it. But he and his partner Xan were held accountable for this treachery, and it seems evident that they intend to stand in our way of retrieving all the items we need to recreate the candle.
