More Continuity Problems...

It seems to me there are a lot of continuity problems in Star Wars based games and not just in "games vs canon" but even "games vs games" (each other). This review assumes you are already familiar with FS quests in SWG. So here goes.
The game I am comparing to for my continuity comparison is Star Wars Galaxies for PC by SOE vs Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back for Atari 2600 by Parker Brothers. I have major concerns about the apparent continuity issues in this game.
I have included a screen shot for visual reference:

This game simulates the climactic battle of the Rebel alliance buying time for their escape from Hoth as the Empire mounts an invasion effort. Many manned fighters were put in battle against the Imperial AT-ATs, while strangely enough no TIE squadrons showed up.
The game starts at the beginning of the invasion where an infinite amount of ATAT's are lined up single file against one Rebel pilot. The excitment one feels at this initial engagement is beyond explanation. After breaking a cold sweat destroying several ATATs something happens. The Star Wars theme music queues up. And not just queue up like any old toon, I could tell this was big time. It queued up in a way that would make even John Williams himself cry. So I ask myself, holy shit what does this mean?!?
I quickly look in my manual to discover the horrifying truth: I am force sensitive. The misery is overwhelming. Like this game and SWG it means I am temporarily invincible, so I continue to kill as much as possible. I camp out every iceberg on every Hoth mountain top waiting to greif the next ATAT in the line. Then I realize the big difference, I didn't get any badges yet. Hell I haven't even gone to the damn village yet. What is this? Some conspiracy? How can I be allowed to be invincible? What about the ATAT pilots, can they be force sensitive?
I don't know what to say, really. Not even the games are coherent with each other. I really think Parker Brothers and Sony should get together and work this thing out. I have already contacted Parker Brothers to see if a patch was available and alas they have not updated since '82. I am beginning to realize that I may just have to live with this eroneous copy of my game.
If you have other examples you would like to add, please do. I don't want to invest in another Star Wars game for my 2600 until I know I am going to be happy with it.
