One of the features about south Florida is that equatorial orbit satellites, natural and man-made, are very easy to see.

If all of the "shooting stars" that I've wished on in the last 5 years cash in, I should soon be King Maharajah of the Universe.

Saw one already at 7PM here. We don't have much for light pollution so they come easy here. I hope I can keep my eyes open until midnight.

The 3 hours of education papers and 7 hours of physics while only seeing 3 other living people is making me a bit sleepy.

If anyone is a photo or nature buff, get off the dang machine and get out there. We'll all be here when you come back.

Thanks for the heads up D. I love stuff like this.

I took my girlfriend to Lake Michigan last night thinking that would be the perfect area to watch from (since around it there is so much open space), but alas I didn't see a thing. There was some cloud coverage too, which didn't help.

Back on topic though... I have lived on this earth for more than 26 years and I have yet to personally witness even a minor astronomical event. (other than eclipses)

How often do the others on this site actively search the skies?

Dude, you missed Hale-Bopp? That thing sat in the sky for around a week.
