wookiee Life Day quest-Not Newbie friendly

I have just made an alt on Gorath, about a week ago now. I took her to Anchorhead to talk to the wookiee NPC there. He goes through his spiel and gives her a waypoint on Dathomir of all places for a newb! So I take what little credits she had at the time and made my way to Dathomir science outpost. Luckily Isleh had her alt craft me a swoop bike for the long trip out to the waypoint so I wouldn't have to hike it. And ths new chara has no combat skills. And she agreed to go out with me.

So we go out there to the little hut and I follow the instructions, talking to al the wookies, like I should. I get to the "Elder" again and guess what. He tells me "Im sorry you have to have been around for 30-60 cycles so we do not have a gift for you, but please have a Happy Life day"

I was more then a little ticked off. Not only was my time and credits wasted on the trip, but my friends time as well. All because I was not aware that a character had to be a certain "age" to get a gift. And before you say its to keep people from exploting getting the gift by making new characters know that Im fully aware of this. My point is that the NPC wookiee at either Anchorhead or Vreni Island SHOULD tell you right then and there that you are not eligable to recieve a gift! And I let them know how I felt too. Just wanted to let people know that, if they have an alt less then 30-60 days and were going to try and get a gift.

Its not because I didn't get an Orb or painting, its the principle that me and my friend's time was waisted when it didn't have to be.

I agree. It really goes back to the recurring theme that things in SWG were just not well thought out.

That is quite annoying. They really should take the effort to tell you these quests are only good for players who have been in game for a while. Could this be the Devs way of stopping someone from hording the paintings and selling them? Say you have an alt account that is just for NPCS <cough>Zannon<cough>. You could create a character, get the painting, delete the character, make a new one, get another painting, repeat. This is my guess as to why the devs did this.

But it doesn't excuse the fact that you can't find out about it until the very end. Shouldn't new players be denied the whole quest alltogether or do the devs think their content is so special that everyone should be able to do it regardless? Own up and let the players know.

My alt has gotten all the anniversary and vet stuff as if he were on the full year and a half that the account has been active. he's only been alive for a few months. * shrug *

I am confused...I thought to get the veteran rewards, only the account had to be active for the time limit. The age of the character in THAT respect is irrelevent. This time however, it is the age of the avatar that matters. 30 days or older. Am I wrong?

By the way, Real X'an...I did the quest with X'an Shin and do you know what I got?

A lousy Life day orb...you would think that would be a great addition to anyone's collection. Except that there are 9 already sitting in X'an's safe deposit box.

I was bored one day and I got on my alt to do the wookiee life day quests. This alt was built for a very specific purpose and has no combat skills whatsoever. This character has NO combat modifiers because he's a crafter, and the +3 Ranged/Melee defense provided by the Lightweight Military Backpack don't stack on top of 0.

So, I go to Anchorhead and after some running around (which included my first ever finding of Tache Station), I find the Life Day Wookiee. I talk to him for a while and get the waypoint to Dathomir. I head up to the planet, which took a while due to no JTL, and I'm not too worried because I've been told there is no combat required in this quest.

For a second, riding around Dathomir was scary. Unlike with a combat character, this is a very dangerous planet. If I get into a fight, I'm done. There is nothing in my inventory that will save me from the jaws of a rancor. Either way, I make it to the waypoint.

Unfortunately, the waypoint I was given took me to the Singing Mountain Clan stronghold. I think to myself "Great, they gave me a random spawn that didn't even check for other spawns in the area." I equip myself with a prenerf republic blaster, just in case there is trouble, and walk in. What happened next was like something out of a movie.

I walk through the doors, and I see red on the radar. I haven't been aggro'd, and I know I only have a second to react. I look around and no sooner do I think "My god... there is no wookiee," I see "You have been incapped by XXXXX XXXXX, Singing Mountain Clan Dragoon. You have been slain by XXXXX XXXXX, Singing Mountain Clan Dragoon."

It was then I realized that Life Day wasn't about celebrating life at all. It was all a vicious ploy by the wookiees to have us all killed.

I think the wookiees have compromised your intel network Colonel. They know the secret identities of all your agents.

Looking dumb as a box or rocks is a very good cover and allows us ALL kinds of access.

Exactly.. Chewbacca played his role to perfection.. making everyone think he was this sappy, loyal, loving creature (who thought with his stomach).. when in reality he was cunning and ruthless, as are all of his kind.

It is brilliant how the wookiees tricked the emperor into deciding to build the 2nd Death Star over Endor.. this way the Ewoks would suffer the casualties and not them.

Wasn't too tough... the Emperor's nanny was a Wookiee Matriarch.

Damn Ewokses.. we hates 'em, HATES 'em!!!

I betcha it was a wookiee who build R2-D2 and programmed him with the ability to use his arsenal of gadgets to almost single handedly overthrow the empire.

So you still think R2-D2 was a droid?

Good, good.... the Plan is still in place.
