Leveling up Commando

Anybody have tips on leveling Commando? Locations or creatures would be great! It seems that the flame thrower is quite slow and doesn't hit very often with flame 1. XP is coming very very slow and I need 250k to reach flame 2. Killing nuna's and butterflies can get pretty boring..

Also does anyone have advice on a supplemental profession(other than medic)?

Hang in there. At first you'll miss quite a bit but once you get that first box you'll be flying. For now stick to NPC missions, since they yield more XP per kill and you're a one-shot/heavy damage dealer.

Once you get Flame Cone 1 then you can start rockin' the mobs. The key to XP building is volume. Flame Cone is a powerful area attack so head out and start hunting those gurks, but don't do it without a little help.

If you check the Commando board at the SOE forums, I believe there are a bunch of template threads there. Take a gander and see if any tickle your fancy. From what I understand, a pure commando is a weak profession (no real specials to speak of and poor skill mods), so you might wanna pick up a melee prof like fencer for defense. That is just my opinion from what I have heard from others...I have never actually TRIED commando. I could be entirely off on this.

Get on rancor missions with big groups. It should be no problem over the next fews days as I think the servers will be quite busy. Rancors have 100% flame resist so you'll want to use something that deals acid damage to get the heavy weapons xp.
