Event Feedback

Well last night was rather complicated by client crashes and and the realization that privateers and Imperials can't seem to PvP. I did research on the SOE knowledge base and thought I had the mechanics of the situation worked out and it was not so.

If game mechanics had not been a problem things would have ran more smoothly. Other than that I was just challeneged with trying to keep the group focused on what would be happening in the ship aside from confrontation and beating the hell out of each other. :)

I think you hit the nails on the head

pvp rules and LD's complicated things

but here's an idea that could have smoothed things a little

since comunication between all 3 groups at the same time was a bitch, and probably unrealistic, you should have created a chat channel, like nocturnus chat, that everyone had to have on, so you can send directions to every single person involved at the same time....

then when we arrived and couldn't fight, you could have sent a message to everyone saying to "duel" everyone else there, then back out, and re-arrive at the wp again to start the battle....

Aye. I had fun though, even if my squadrond was unruly and a pain to control. Privateers and imperials can fight, they just have to be of the opposing faction. I had all ships in my wing hit the emp station to go overt before showing up. Didn't help matters that 4 members of my crew were rebels whom neglected to mention the fact.

The mass dueling confusion was my fault. When no one could attack and we had no targets, I ordered my flight to duel everyone. Tried to get as many names as possible out there to everyone and quickly type /duel for em all on two comps. I informed everyone NOT to attack until I gave the word, but then one of my guys said he was hit and going down, so I gave the order. My appologies for the confusion and ganking if any occured.

there was much ganking as the whole privateer side was sent to oblivion, including the firepsray and yt1300

Overall I enjoyed this piece of the event and wished I could of been around for more of it. I realized early on that the only thing hindering the event was the game limitations and bugs/crashes and knew the event itself and was fun and interesting.

It also gave me the opportunity to roleplay with some Imperials I have not met ingame yet like Nyase. I really enjoyed that and meeting them helped establish a rapor with other Imperials for future events and RP social interactions. I'd like to cross paths more often.

Though some of the Imps in are group did not leave much to be desired. I applaud Nyase for keeping his cool and staying in character when some folks just decided to act like idiots. It did not hurt the event at all for me but several people put a lot of work into organizing this event and pulling it off as best they can and when I see people screwing around with their characters when something is happening it just rubs me the wrong way.

So my final word on the event as I experienced it is a big fat thumbs up. My highest regard to Jabe, Nyase and all those involved who put this together. This is the event is the kind of thing that keeps me playing this game.

I want to thank everyone for th epositive feedback, the worst thing that can happen is that someone walks away from an event you plan feeling at a loss. I am glad people had fun.

Speaking as someone aboard the "Anthem" it did seem a little out of control. Isleh, Me, Ekade Dwilah, Zannon and Kushiel were trying to play out a scene doing our individual things, but poor Jabe must have been so busy trying to coordinate things, that he didn't get to do much RP it seemed*hugs Jabe*

Norel did a very good Job playing Coiyonite I have to say. However it never even occured to me that you could blow up a Sorosub, but then I guess we were being fired on. I am pretty sure I can speak for everyone who survived, in that more advanced warning that Jabe was going to blow up the Yacht, would have allowed us to hasten our RP and get to escape pods before it went, although Im still not sure who supposedly did not make it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Yes, I still had lots of fun :D

A good attempt.

I think the main problem on the privateer side was the lack of Novall.
We literally had no idea what we were doing... Except having a space battle obviously.
We launched, went to a waypoint... Heard some good music (very nice touch) and then before we know what was going on every one of our ships was obliterated.
Having unruly imps might have had something to do with that...
I don't think anyone on the Imperial side was "Going down" however.
Kirts Firespray was the first to explode, followed by my ship.
All in all, I think there just needed to be a bit more communication between the groups. Or if that did exist... some communication for the grunts.
Still had fun though...
Tracking down Isleh and Weyune (or at least trying to) was a blast.

It was well done Jabe. Kudos and all that stuff :D

I got a kick out of seeing Evil Ekade and Coiyonite (Norel) bickering. Can you imagine those two in a divorce court? I'd hate to be their lawyers.

Great RP. Coiyonite trying to take over Dwilah's mind, Kushiel engaging in a struggle to prevent him. Zannon and Ekade struggling against one another.

The only bad part was caused by the game itself

When we boarded, I hung and had to restart my computer. I tried to start again and it crashed again. I restarted a 3rd time and got the load screen then crashed to the desktop. When I finally did load and I boarded the Anthem, it took so long that 3/4 through the load screen, I saw the jump to Lok and then back to the load screen. I was so sure that I was going to load in Bestine again after seeing the jump while I was still loading on the ship... but I made it. Everyone except Dwilah and Weyune was in the main room... but I at least made it.

Dispite all that, I had a wonderful time.

I am so sorry I couldn't get in lastnight :( Blame Evil SOE since its their game and have so deemed to make it the most unstable POS on the shelf. I tried 45mins streight to get ingame with no luck. I'm researching it on my end to see if its my system...but knowing SWG, its not.

Again my apologies but it was and still is totally out of my hands :(

Oh yeah one other thing I forgot was the music or rather lack of. Jabe, what format was the music you were supplying in? Maybe I don't have it enabled because I simply could not get anything to play. I know that when I went to the link, all it was was a page with instructions and my browser was continually trying to find something but nothing happend. And others described the same experience. I crashed too, when first boarding, but then I did leave Explorer up and the comp trying to find whatever could have been too much and caused the crash but i am not sure.

SurrealFX is silent until I trigger a sound event at the right time. So it may have been working probably its that the event had so many peopled logged in to SurrealFX that it lagged for most or never started playing. The sound format is mp3.

Again, my appologies for the ganking. There were some idiots there that wouldn't stop shooting, even at my own ships, but it was my fault. I'd received word that one my pilots was hit and going down, so I gave the order to open fire. My appolgies on the matter. If it's any differnce, my ship's crew bailed on me and I was pretty much just sitting there in operations watching the scene. Till my game crash and I come back to find out I got blown up.

Things don't always go the way you plan them, I think it was handled the best it could have been. In discussions with the others in the group, it became aparent that a GM should be there to answer any questions and direct folks...Jabe you were too bogged down to do that, the GM needs to be an observer and not a participant...Since I am not as into the RP stuff as most others, I would gladly fill that role anytime needed for any events.
