So has anyone played Half Life 2?
The only thing cool is you can double weild certain weapons and knock your enemies off vehicles. Otherwise I thought it was a bit weak compared to the first one.

I'm playing through it now, and I have to say that it doesn't completely suck, which from me means it's probably an outstanding title.
Some of the fun stuff you get to do in this one:
Pin soldiers to the wall with the crossbow gun.
Work a giant magnetic crane (like a car-yard crane) to pick up giant shipping containers and throw them, swing them, and drop them on bad guys. Seriously, there is not NEARLY enough of this kind of goofy fun action in this game. I wanted way more.
The driving puzzles are actually fairly entertaining.
The gravity gun can be a lot of fun, especially when you pick up large sharp objects and cut zombies in half by shooting the sharp object at them. Unfortunately, they purposefully don't populate "bad guy" human areas with sharp objects, only zombieworld.
Also, throwing paint cans at zombies is hilarious, because they become covered in paint. I once got bored in a small room and proceeded to paint the entire room by picking up the paint can and throwing it at the wall and floor about 100 times.
Overall, I'd give it some praise. I'm having a lot of fun with it, but just reached some VERY hard parts (just playing it on Normal). I like the storyline, even if it is a little bit like George Orwell directs War of the Worlds.
Things I don't like about the game:
Good luck playing it on even a remotely substandard system. The graphics for it aren't all that (maybe they were good 2 years ago when they wrote the ad copy for the back of the box, I don't know, but they're going to friggin' CRY when they see the Unreal 3 engine and its normalmapping), so I'm wondering why I keep getting video driver bugs/lockups. It's constantly crashing like crazy on me, so I have to save like every 3 steps. My system is slightly above the minimum requirements for the game, so I'm wondering why it's so effin' glitchy on 800x600 with NO anti-aliasing.
I'm sure it looks MUCH better on a smoking hot system. (I turned the 2x anti-aliasing on for a second and thought it looked way better. I can only imagine how soft the lights look on 8x). Yes, I'm buying a new computer this weekend. Shut up.
The install time will make Baby Jesus cry. I swear to god, this game is
A). Unfinished in its shipped form and
B). Unplayable unless you have broadband internet.
The total install time for me was ONE HOUR. It came on 5 CDs (in paper sleeves, no less), with no manual. Gee, think they're pushing this STEAM downloadable content crap a bit too much? For $54 dollars I think I deserved a little something more than 5 disks in paper sleeves and a small card that had the keymap on it. After the 5 disks finally installed, Steam downright LIES to me and says that it's "compiling install data" or some other bald faced bs. I look at my LAN window, and not only is it claiming that I'm sending packets to and from (mostly from) my hub, but my DSL modem light is flashing the entire time.
So it wasn't finished. You have to download content to install the game, and that part took like half an hour to forty minutes.
Steam sucks.

went and got it at Sam's club for $47.77, took me about 45-50 minutes to install..
the graphics look beautiful, although I'm stuck in the game already, I know the way out, but am just too lazy to stack the barrels (keep knocking em over)
it's that room with the bazzillion, lil helicopter buzzaw thingies, you blow up the barrels and finish off the rest, then you have to get to that other room...the only thing I can think of is to stack the barrels in the water and try and jump into that pipe lit with the red light...unless someone has a better suggestion...
also we ought to post our login names so we can add each other to the friends list

A buddy of mine demoed Half Life 2 for me. I have to say that the graphics and interaction realism with the environment was very good. In some sewer-type area a body floating in the water looked and bobbed around like it would in real life.
His machine is sick with all the bells and whistles, though. I'm not a techie but I bet he could remote task satellites with that set-up of his.

most of the stuff turned all the way, cept shadows...although I did have them on high, but the screen would tear...also have aax2 on...soooo pretty
tried counterstrike: source and it's a nice update to a classic, but when compared to HL2: deathmatch it's just not as pretty
