*Queue up scary music*
I just read that 2038 is another bad year for the world of binary...
So here is the real question, when your old and in a home and you look back on your life, what will you have hoped to accomplish?

I hope I am dead by then. What do I hope to accomplish? not much. I just want to be able to retire and be forgotten in the woods in the middle of nowhere.

my fortress should be complete by then... and thats a bunch of crap, i heard that some famous dude was touting that, which makes him a false prophet ( i think) because men will not know when the end comes...
I hope to have realized my greater purpose by then.

If I get to travel the world before I die then I'll be basically happy. Alot of that will come in my retirement, hopefully. I've got Japan and France already knocked out, though I could easily go back to either of them again. WA-Hoo! Good times in both spots.
One month in each time zone in foreign lands too much to ask? The trip could be by air that's no biggie.
In addition to that I would also like to have sailed around the world in a ship no bigger than a 60-70 footer. Docking at interesting ports along the way.
I'd also like to have concrete evidence that there is other sentient life in outer space. That's not so much a personal accomplishment, but I think that I'd like to know that before I die.
Oh and a few XXX-rated hours with the entire Miss Universe roster. Any year before I die. I'm not picky.

The last apocolypse was great, I was all " 5, 4, 3, 2, 1-- SEE YOU IN HELL!" and then it was 2000... Look where the world's gone from there!

Well unfortunately for me its 3 years before my retirement and knowing history I'll probably be dealing with it last minute just like Y2K...
So whatever. We'll patch it. The 2038 issue has been known for several years. I am sure programmers will issue new data types that will allow clock incremements to go way beyond what they are now if they still even decide to do it that way. Unlike Y2K we have nearly four decades of progress and the lessons of Y2K on our plate.

Indeed. If I'm still using Windows XP, or Cobol, or anything else that might fall into the 2038 trap (whatever the hell that is), please, I'm begging, someone come to my house and shoot me.
K?
Thanks.

Do you have your range cards setup for all the windows in your home and have you instructed all the other occupants how to use them?

I hope to be an sucess fully comic book artist and writer and that my creations will be remembered half as fondly of those of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
