Planning A Server-wide Gorath Event! Comemorating Launch!

On the Gorath Forum under Lunatic Fringer I've begun posting an idea I want to make happen. A Comemorative Launch Day Celebration! As we all know, or might not, that was June 26th.

I'd like to make this an on-going 'dual' event as well. Meaning I want to hold this thing twice a year as two seperate events but both events are to celebrate the same thing; Remembering our roots!

As of now I'm thinking to hold this on January 26th and on June 26th of each year the game continues to run.

The January event will be for Celebrating the New Year and to give new players a chance to share in the on-going celebration. With our main effort of getting the Launch Day Celebration into full swing each year.

Now then, the basic idea will be to gather in large groups to party in game in our New Player Clothing and sport our other starting gear from the day we first stepped into the Galaxies world. More to come and keep an eye on the Star Wars Galaxies 'Gorath' Forum. Let's make this happen.

Sounds like a fun idea. What would you do after we all dress up in old clothes? Group hunt Corellian Butterflies? Perhapse a fire work show?

Not only will we be chatting about those early days when perhaps 5-10 players would all ban together to take down one single Dewback; We'll be doing just that too! Even a Master Pistoleer in nothing but Beginner Clothing and a crappy starter CDEF pistol will be able to enjoy the fun of, "Wow, that's hard to kill for this planet!" again.

The only forseeable problem will be with TKMs. Since you've advanced so much with your hands to master (I E... is not dependant upon the weapon). This will seem like a joke to you.

It'll be a little easier since creature resists and armor ratings aren't what they used to be. But still, it'll be fun.

As of now, I'm wanting to host my party out at the Rancher's house on Tatooine. I'm expecting enough people to get involved that we'll have parties going on in multiple player and non-player cities and other locations.

An inside joke for the party could even be, "Where do I find the Novice Jedi Trainer?"

Oh my.. I will be in the cantina, doing Basic 2. I expect you "hunters" to to come to the cantina and talk to me and be entertained. :D

We had such great parties in the cantinas back then. Every night was a party. I remember hearing stories about all the "cool things" people discovered on their explorations. Ahh.. such a good time. :D

I remember back in the day trying to get any entertainers to join the goup and having the novice scout drop a camp after nearly every battle so the entertainer could heal our BF and mind wounds.

And finding out you could not heal BF in a camp.

I remeber those days too. I liked the idea that you would need a varoius professions with complimenting skills to overcome obstacles. It seems like this was in the original concept.. but they drifted from it.

You never hear, "Man.. if only we had a dancer in the group we could have beaten that.."

Instead you get, "I hope my favorite buff-bot is up.. I need to go pwn some critters solo.."

LOL yep. Man that was like an hour of trying every thing we could think of to try to get it to work then finding out that it's just not possible. Good times, good times.

They had alot of good idea's at first then they threw them out the door now we have the game we have now...kinda sad

I remember being in Dearic my first week ingame and having a large group of people surrounding me as I tolds my tale of the Empire trying to board my vessel and it getting destroyed in the process. I spent over an hour telling it and the group just kept getting larger. this was in september of 2003. everyone was like OMG you had a ship of your own.

Note that this was on a character that has since been killed off (Arifo). She was originally a smuggler turned doctor. I can still tell the tale of how that came to be if anyone is interested. Apparently a lot of them were in September lol.

Not a problem if they equip survival knives.

For that matter ask EVERYONE to equip weapons they have little or no skill with.

:D

Just a reminder to anyone interested in participating. From about 1-2pm CST (that's Illinois for me) today I'll be trying to host some New Player missions. No buffs, no composite, just newbie clothes, newbie tags, and newbie weapons as we try to mop the floor with the increased critter spawn!!!

I will, of course, be taking breaks throughout the evening to tend to other things. So, lets get some groups forming around Eisley today!!! Enjoy it, and get to know a New Player; Or old player you never knew before! And drag them to this site!!!

LOL.. ok.

To make things easier, I think I will have the meeting about what to do about the Missing Monk in Mos Eilsey to make it easier for you to attend, if you choose to. :D

How did the New Kala'uun party go last night? Sorry I could not make it, I had to log.
