I seriously don't understand how this game is doing so well. It seriously lacks the "RP" from MMORPG regardless of how fun the quests are. I guess I never will understand.

It ain't over yet, don't count your blessings.
Talk to Ekade and Keer about the RP in the game so far. As far as being an RPG it is 100% full on, at least like the RPGs I've known the love. I get more of the old D&D feeling from this game as I did from games like Diablo and Dungeon Seige.
But I'm not here to pad the game. Its still oranges and SWG is apples. The truth behind the sales cutoff is Blizzard just can't handle the amount of players and they certainly can't handle more. I have to admit the server maintenance and downtime is still less than SWGs in its first fledgling months. Jabe wasn't around for the frequent drops and server outages and I consider him lucky for that.

 All I can say is that I saw it coming. Like a plasma screen stadium jumbotron, I knew back in the springtime Beta that this game was gonna be HUGE and for all the right reasons.Seret Sajet wrote:It ain't over yet, don't count your blessings.

As for the "technical difficulties", the Galaxies experience has made me appreciative beyond comfort. Yeah, I too remember the early months of Galaxies. Back then me and my friends called it "Glitchaxies".
It's much much easier to stomach waiting 2 days to play a game because it was done well, than waiting 36 months for a game to be done well.

Hopefully more people can come back to SWG, some of my good freinds have been gone seince day one of WoW. Though I wonder how many will leave during MEO. I know I will try it out the first day but I only hope it has the guts it says it dose.

Yeah, the game is more fun than SWG in some ways, and less fun than SWG in other ways. Like Seret said, it is apples and oranges.Jabe Adaks wrote:http://articles.filefront.com/No_More_P ... ticle.html

It is hard for me to describe why WoW is fun. I guess the gameplay itself is rewarding enough to make you want to play more. RP is relatively weak still. This is a function of the players and not the game. The "problem" you are faced with in WoW is that there is so much to do, very few people want to stop and RP.
The Grind is different as well.
Q: "I want to master TKM.. what do I do?"
A: "Get buffed, go kill something over and over again until you are master"
Q: "I want to master my WoW profession, what do I do?"
A: "Engage in a series of quests which take you all over a rich, vibrant world. You will not get xp for killing things too far below your level, and things above your level will destroy you."

The big question with WoW remains.. what happens when you have completed your character build? Will the game still be fun?
I still contend that player created content must exist for a game to have long term fun. Dev created content can ALWAYS be consumed far faster than it can be created.
The question becomes.. what will Blizzard do when the community begins to "finish" their characters?

According to the developers once you reach level 60 and your character is Mastered you still have only completed about 25% of the game. I'm not sure what that entails but I keep hearing that over and over again.Ekade wrote:The big question with WoW remains.. what happens when you have completed your character build? I tell ya that FF11 had no content/ storie and all you did was sword a bad guy to level up. Once you hit level 25 you can kill almost anything and once you hit level 60 you can summon some famous FF monsters but nothing more. Also you get a house that only you can enter so that eliminates guild halls and player houses. the only thing I liked in FF11 was the giant ass sword that I could weild and after seven days of non stop playing with it, it gets boring. At least with SWG I can go to player events and have people come to my house. Even my pistol is fun for me and I have millions of hours with it...well hundreds of hours.

We could do that, but in all fairness we'd have to stop talking about all other games too. The Jibber Jabber Forum is the place to do this observing all applicable rules of course.
In your shoes, Lady Iridonian, I would still nab a copy for when there is room. All that cash Blizzard made could easily spring for some population adjustments in the not too distant instant.Isleh wrote:LOL.... well.... S.

I contemplated the "other" game discussion rule and about just canning it. While I agree all the WoW talk does nothing damage a community we're trying to grow - we've already have too many other forum rules that I hate enforcing all the time.
