Kick ass! I totally want the Scout Trooper armor. Here is the real question though? Are they nerfing the existing armor in the game and if not how will this armor incorporate into the new structures?
Ubese,
Tantel,
It would be interesting if these are just decorated armor or if they decide to put them somewhere.

*drools*
I kind of like the Rebel Assult armor, except for the boxs going down the front. Looks like they were inspired by the "Ab Abber2000" on that one.
Seriously, though its almost enough to make me want to do more faction stuff for that armor

Must... have.... battle... armor...
I wonder if you can get the rag without the top part of the helmet though.

Race Normalization
Armor in SWG is also subject to a unique problem that is due to movie canon limitations. According to movie canon, certain player races cannot wear certain pieces of armor. For example, Trandoshans cannot wear gloves or boots, and Wookiees cannot wear boots. This has led to a situation where these races can get one-shot killed in combat because they have a form of what is commonly known as an "armor hole." This happens because on a basic level of combat calculations, the body was divided into multiple hit locations. Once a target has been determined to have been hit by a weapon the game determines what portion of the body has been hit, for example, the hands, bracer and biceps were all valid and separate hit locations.
The proposed system will remove the hands and feet as valid hit locations. We will need a new type of armor clothing to prevent the additives of clothing enhancements and/or already disallowed bio components. These pieces will still remain crafted by Armorsmiths. This should encourage the use of some of our least used races because they are no longer suffering a massive combat disadvantage.

Personally I do not believe Stormtrooper standard armor should be craftable. I would leave that to the faction recruiters. Everything else is fair game, though.

finally read the whole thing
some interesting changes, and it defintely makes the comp armor not the best anymore, but it will lead to having multiple sets of armors...
and the rebel armor look great, EXCEPT FOR THE HELMETS...god they suck major ass
the assault helmet is just plain flat with an eyepiece...woohooo, lotta thought went into that

/agree
If you spent a crap load of faction points on the thing, then find out you can just have it crafted, that would suck.

They can't please everyone. While I think the new Rebel armor looks more prequel than trilogy inspired, I am still pleased with the overall design and I am optimistic about the changes they've outlined and described here.
I think in general, beggers can't be choosers. We can't ask ask ask for more armor, different systems, more art, etc etc, and then just slap down what they offer us and say, "it's not good enough."

No, remember? Wookiees proved beggars can be choosers, they got their armor after begging and begging and then were all "OMG I DON'T LIKE THAT /CRY"
But now they're pink with armor that has the potential to be the coolest ever but everyone makes it green and red and other wacky colors that don't belong.
In conclusion, I need some Rebel Battle Armor... I need it bad...

This is accually great. I agree I dont really like the designs for the rebel armor helmuts nor the Assult trooper armor but thats a matter of style really. It's like saying I hate the design of the ships in Battle Star Galatica and wish the designs where more like Star Wars, Star Trek, or any other sci fi movie or serries. And I love that factional armor smiths can now feel like they have a deeper place with their faction beyond being another grunt.
