Good Bye, Yellow Brick Road

Fellow Players,

I have the honor to state my intention to cancel my subscription to Star Wars Galaxies, effective at my first opportunity. The character Keer Tregga will no longer be.

It is with no small amount of sadness that I go as a player, and that Keer Tregga goes with me. However, a long road of glaring and blatant disgraces, lies, and hypocrisy from the principles responsible, Sony Online Entertainment, has made it very evident that I don't belong as one of it's customers. It's been clear for a long time, but finally mind and heart are on the same page.

Where and when I used to look for signs of promise in this game's future, here and now I have little genuine interest in what's going on with it and even less trust in what is heralded to come. In more recent times I thought that maybe providing healthy dissent would help motivate more customer appreciation and basic common sense but now, that I don't even care to do.

More and more I ask myself, "Why am I paying for this?" Sometimes the answer comes to me quickly, other times after long thought, but the answer is always the same: "Because it's Star Wars"

But...is it?

To some folks, plain honest talk about the shortcomings of SWG is like blasphemy. To them I say, "You can stop me when I start lying."

I do have to give credit to the founders of Tales From the Outer Rim for providing that last optimism. Eight months ago, I was ready to cancel. But for the time that I held on the game was that much more enjoyable. I love Role Play and am proud to have talent in it. But there has to be a balance for me. The rest of the game is equally necessary for my enjoyment. Unfortunately, the other side of the scale is lightweight. I wish the rest of the game was as potent as this RP community. I still look forward to being a member of this forum, albeit with less presence.

There are a multitude of other reservations, but all to the same end. Therefore say no more.

You all have my most genuine hopes that you enjoy yourselves. You damn sure deserve to.

We already miss you IG bro. I'm sad knowing my underworld contact won't be around anymore. At least you'll visit here, at times...

I hate to see you go, but it's never good to keep doing something you don't enjoy.

They are droping like flies, I hate to see any role palyer go. grant it I never had the pleasure of meeting you in game I still offer my condolence to you. I would have stopped playing during 2003 around december if it were not for that pruple twi'lek known as Ekade. It is my freinds that keep me on, no more then that. The devs have stiped the game of anything fun but they have not striped me of my freinds. I hope where ever you go our path's migh meet. As soon as MEO comes out I will be there. SWG will still be my bounce back zone but if MEO turns out the way I hope it dose then things will be better for me. At any rate God speed Keer.

Nah, I barely noticed that really, despite your mention of it the other day. It was the whole experience from Launch '03 to now.

If you're looking for a major hammer blow, check the Developer "Green Marine's" foray into the Smuggler Forums, May of 2004. The fact that our correspondent had to hunt him down during a game summit in Austin, TX which only elicited some lame reply months after he said he'd "get back to us"...yeah, I'd call that Sony's "Tet Offensive" as far as my personal SWG experience goes.

Then there was the IC:2 Smuggler Revamp Thread turning one year old. Ehh, time to go.

Good Revamp or not. They haven't earned and don't deserve any more charity donations.

Thanks for the good words though, folks.

I never played EQ, but if they treat EQ players like SWG players, Im surprised it did so well. I would like to give them all a big /rude... but they don't care... Im not giving them anything more...

Actually, the EQ2 player base seems to be treated ALOT better :)
