Opening crawl (not a EP3 spoiler)...

As I'm sure most of you have seen, the EP3 opening crawl is now floating around the net. Rather than getting into a discussion about it that creates spoilers, I have something else I'd like to discuss...

Of the 6 opening crawls, the even numbered crawls have words that are bolded in them. As far as I know, Lucas has never hinted at why. The bolded words have been used in other opening crawls, but they are only bolded in the even ones. Those words are:

EP2: ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC
EP4: DEATH STAR (appears un-bolded in EP6 and EP5 crawls)
EP6: GALACTIC EMPIRE (appears un-bolded in the EP4 crawl)

So, let's hear it...who's got theories.


here's my theory for ep4 and 6...they both get destroyed in that

DS is unbolded in 5/6 cuz the original is already destroyed and we dont know about DS2, and the GE gets fooked in 6

now the AOR doesn't get destroyed, and in fact does very well...I'll have to thikn about it

From a guy who loves theorizing...I don't think that there's a hidden mystery to it. I think that all the boldprints in the crawl are just subject reinforcement. Like those teachers in grade school that would stomp their feet or fake a cough when they talked about a subject that would be on the next test/quiz.

Lucas was saying, "Hey! Lookout for this! It's important."

The odd numbered episodes don't seem to have "The Big Item" that drove the story in the evens. "Galactic Empire" may be a liability to this view because it's really there anyway for at least 3 of the movies, but it is more on display in EP6 than in all the others.

If the EP6 crawl was more descriptive I'm sure EWOKS would have been printed as well :lol:
