Video Project: Attn Entertainers

I've been thinking about this a lot over the past few weeks, and Skarr's request for someone for help with casino commercials sorta launched my brain into high gear. There's a particular song I've really been wanting to do an SWG music video to. A few of you have seen some little dinky experiments I tried over the Christmas holiday. My video quality isn't the best, but I'd still really like to give this a go.

I have some very specific ideas for this video, but since I'm only an entertainer part-time, I'm looking for some help and input from our very talented community entertainers.

The catch of this video is that I'll need to film it in several different segments, and then edit them all together. This makes some of it easier as far as gathering people together. I'll provide costumes for those who participate.

Segments I want to film seperately:

--A trio of human dancers on a yacht.
--A band (Musicians only. Hopefully the Kreetles, plus others, if they're willing and able) on a yacht.
--A trio/fleet of yachts in space.
--A group of 15-20 dancers on a yacht.

Part of the reason these will be filmed seperately is due to the setting (space, and the passenger limit on yachts). I'm thinking that between our RPing community and the individual community connections, there will be more than plenty dancers to contact to fill that 15-20 dancer range I'm looking for.

What I'm interested in are volunteers, possible other connections to other entertainers and if they'd be interested, who would be interested in flying yachts for the space scenes, and what dances are broken/which ones work.

All you need to do is walk into a cantina and say, 'I am making a video" and they will be falling over themselves to be in it. :D Those that are not AFK that is... :???: You could also post something on the Gorath SOE forums.

If you are looking for dancers that have dabbled in choreography and have at least tried to put on a show, or done anything besides being a buff bot, the list gets considerably shorter. :D

The base dances for formal, lyrical, and theatrical are broken. They look good to the dancer performing them. To everyone else it looks like the dancer is stumbling around. The Flo's look good to all though. If you wanted to use these dances, the flo's would have to be timed so that the base dance never appears. As soon as one flo ends, the other begins.

Human dancers: Isleh, Ceza, Lorinda. I can't recall who else I usually see around.

I think I'd mostly be interested in using flourishes. With editing it's easy to cut out stumbling. :D What I have in mind for the actual choreography is more to set up specific lines or shapes and going through the flourishes of different dances. I have some specifics in mind. While it may not sound very thrilling for the actual execution, I think this will be easiest for editing. I'm not going to be looking to have one "star" of the video to be leading the dances...or rather, I'm going to try and avoid that. Because the actual "choreography" won't be to entertain a live audience, I am planning on paying dancers...by individuals, what do you think would be a good fee for a set of basic dance work?

I thought there was a 10 player limit on multiplayer ships.

Sorry if I'm throwing a wrench into your plans.

Well.. feel free to leverage any expertise I may have when it comes to dancing/macros/flourishes/choreography. I've done a lot of experimenting with things.

As far as paying.. ask yourself "how much is my time worth?". That should be the set amount. This is hard to answer. If it is fun, I will do it for free. I don't need to be paid to perform at the Roba or Club Mignight. Ask me to perform for 2 hours as Joe Jackasses guild party.. all of a sudden it will cost you. :D

That being said.. I think the allure of being in a video alone may be enough for most. :D

Wow--that's a great resource. Thanks!!! What I'm thinking more and more is that I'll need someone to help me direct and while I film.

Also Dooo, I've been on at least two multiplayer ship outings now where there were more than 10 on the ship. /shrug

Dwilly, you've got The Kreetles. I think the krew would be willing to pass up on S&V or something, to help you. Catch us all together at the casino, and we can plan a time. I'll get the slackers rounded up, if I can, too.
