Ok, just want everyone to post their questions/complaints about Saturday's attempted avent. That way, I've got something to work with for future refrence.

How was information of the Rebel group's actions reaching you Nyase?

Was there even a small possibility that the raid on the base could result in Oeree being set free?

There was a lot of confusion all around. Here is...well, flat out, a run-down of how I think things went [downhill].

-Some people thought we were meeting at the Lok starport and didn't know it had been changed to the cantina.

-We did a lot of waiting, which killed a lot of RP. It wasn't anyone's fault, but we didn't want to leave anyone behind. A lot of people kept having to go AFK for short spurts at a time.

-Once we actually made it to Nym's cantina (after dying from Nym's men...which was a downer), we really had no clue what we were doing there. There wasn't a real reason for us to be meeting there once we had all assembled at the starport.

-Some people were confused as to whether or not they were supposed to be NPCs or themselves. This tripped us up.

-Even though there had been some IC explanation of what we were going to do (slice the terminal, find out where he was, rescue), due to confusion/waiting because of AFKness and trying to figure out NPC/PCness, once we actually got up there to slice the terminals, some people had no clue what we were doing.

-Sliced the terminals, found our destination. A plan was suggested and a majority of the group agreed on it. Everyone started talking about space, which confused me. We landed at Dearic and realized one member had taken to space thinking the space portion was immediate.

-Met up at a small town outside the Imperial Outpost on Talus. We waited for our members to come back from AFK and/or catch up. Again, nobody's fault but a bit of a buzzkill.

-Made it to the outpost and stared it down. Lots of questioning as to whether or not the plan we hatched way back at Nym's starport is sound OOCly. No RP on this matter really.

-The diversion team assaults the base, while what was dubbed the "sneaky team" hacks a small panel of glowing dots on a wall to discover Oeree's location. (I thought this part was kind of funny really; I just wanted to find something resembling an interface so we used a door panel.)

-We discover Oeree is not actually at the base. We must head them off in Dathomir space. We head back to Dearic to group up.

-This is where it really dissolved. I backed out as group leader--I wasn't planning on flying in the assault, and we had more neutral pilots than Rebel pilots.

IMO, the major problems were...

a) Waiting. This is the biggest one. Nobody's fault at all, but this led people's attentions to wander, people didn't know what was going on later, there was confusion with information. Everyone gets cranky.

b) Lack of focus/information. With all the waiting everyone was doing (I know Nyase, Oeree, and the Imperial half was waiting like nuts too), in between waits, the rescue squad was a little lost.

c) Some parts of the event were too rigid. When the space portion fell apart because too many people weren't Rebel pilots and people couldn't get the flight chips or didn't have them or in my case, ship couldn't hold a flight computer, I think it would've been just as easy to say, "Okay, let's all fly around a whole lot, raise hell, make a lot of noise, and not hit each other for awhile." We're RPers. We can pretend. Saying you absolutely cannot participate because you don't have a chip or you're not the right kind of pilot was confusing and a point of discord. I think most people who were there would have held back from blowing ships to heck in three seconds if we'd asked them to.

d) Snarky OOC comments. Everyone was getting cranky on all sides and the waiting killed a whole lot of information and role-playing, but when people start sniping at each other things are more likely to degrade and focus is taken away from the RP.

Because of all these things, there was a lack of focus on role play. I think that's what it all comes down to. I felt like there was not a very serious atmosphere last night and after awhile, people stopped trying because they just got frustrated.

I have to give props to Hashum for keeping on trucking, Whar for using his R2 unit to slice into stuff (wee! movie references), and Oroho for keeping up character throughout the whole thing.

Since I was the group leader up until the space part, I have to apologize if I wasn't passing along information the way I should've or there were questions I should have been asking that I should've that I didn't. My involvement as a leader figure was last-minute and I tried to pass on the information I was given and find out what I needed to find out for the group, but my sincerest apologies to everyone involved if I skipped something that needed to be said or asked.

I think everyone in the rescue squad is very sorry that it fell apart at the space thing--I know Nyase and Oeree were waiting, I'm really sorry that y'all's event didn't get all the way through. I know that's just as frustrating and discouraging as what the rescue squad went through. But we did try.

I am very sorry to hear the event didn't go as planned. It is always difficult to co-ordinate an event with that many people spanning different planets and going between ground and space.

On a side note Dwilah, If you have 500 mass available in your ship I can get you a pre-nerf Droid Interface. It will have about 15.0 speed (which is comparable to level 8 or 9) and has very little mass. Let me know here or in game if you are interested.

Ok. Most of the confusion was my fault I belive. I should've joined in with the rescue squad as i had been debating.

The location to meet up was made because I didn't want 30 people randomly showing up trying to hack the same terminal. That, and I was hoping to get everyone together so that I could give anyone who needed it a droid chip.

At anyrate, it' sa learning experiance, and I know what to plan for next time.

Yup, we learned. :D

I think every person who has ever attempted to run an event has had a few less than stellar "learning experiences". I know I have. :D Once I spent a ton of time making what I thought was a really cool event.. but I failed to get people excited about it.. and nobody showed.

At least you got a good number of people to show and try for about 2 hours. That in itself is a success. :D Usually people drift after about 60-90 min.

Well...at least some interesting RP will probably come out of the group's failure and not knowing Oeree is rescued. :)

It was all good for me... I had fun playing with Bucket, the R2. And later made a character breakthrough brought on because of some event interaction.

I just had fun making random snarky comments IC. :) And just RPing because I haven't had real, live, human RPing in ages....

...any other events planned soon? :D

We try to use the calendar for scheduled events, but our RP is not limited only to that. On any given night there is someone RP'ing somewhere.. they trick is finding it. :D

As you get to know more of us, the finding it part becomes easier.

Enjoy!
