To the German speaking roleplayers here...

I ran in to a newbie trying to grind missions out tonight. She was German and a bunch of griefing english speaking guys kept laughing their asses off at her as she tried to systematicaly speak German to a lot of people who evidently did not know any.

I felt so bad, I whipped out babelfish and said hello. I ended up spending half the night helping her grind some missions in Mos Eiseley (she just wanted help). Since I am starting a new profession our skills were a good match.

Anyway, if any German speaking players here can say hi to Meinya, it would be appreciated. I think she had a really crappy first experience in game. She seems to be very chatty and friendly as well. I even understood some of her jokes. :) She could make a good roleplayer if she finds the right German speaking community.

Oh yeah, tell her Jabe sent ya. :)

babelfish is great.

I know a little, its enough for me to communicate important things in-game... I have met several german RPers though, they may help her out.

You gotta be a real idiot to laugh at someone just because they speak a different language. Those kids must live to close to buzzing power lines.

German speaking or not she's welcome around even if there is a language barrier to get through.

Although I make it a point to make fun of the German Government any chance I get I never make fun of their people. I even got into a week long political debate with one of them when she found out I was an American. Ant how those kids need a swift kick in the gonnads all they're doin is reinforcing the sterio type the Americans are rude neanderthalls. Jabe did you happen to get any of their names maybee we can make an after of following them around making fun of them.

The Germans I know I generally very very good roleplayers. Very patient in their character development and all that. Actually.. I knew one sneaky german who was so good at speaking english that I did not know she was German *cough* *cough* Dasumi *cough* *cough*. :D

I find I can understand german well enough to understand what everyone is talking about, but I certainly cannot communicate it. 3 years of german in HS and never using it IRL did nothing except fill a prerequisite in school =/

Its a shame because, other than serbo-croat, it is the only foreign language I would like to be fluent in. And that is because of the number of German RP'rs I have met through this game and all of my friends in the military speak german.

If I see her I will be sure to talk to her also. I don't do a lot of missions anymore but helping out new players is what I always enjoyed.

All the Germans I knew, IRL, were just plain good at playing...and the most fun i ever had at bowling was a German version of the game called Kegling.

You see, you have this ball that has lumps all over it, and no alleys besides the lanes...and you try to NOT knock down the Pins (which are kinda like sandbags)...it was not only fun, but funny.

I think a lot of us German-Americans lost some of that sense of fun when our ancestors migrated here. (Sigh)

On the other hand, i think it WOULD be fun to hunt down some boors

I've kept my eyes open for Meinya (yes i've been online lately, though just for a short while) and found, that she's already found some german players as company, so she seems to have had a good start ^^

I have realized in this game that the germans are, pound for pound, much more dedicated to roleplay. I don't know why, but I have seen squads of German Stormtroopers and other clear Imperials. They take their roles very seriously and it honestly makes me wish I could interact.

Not only RP.. but PvP..

I was on the losing end of a base takedown once. The attackers were a german guild <ND>. Their teamwork and efficiency was scary. (( I think I have related this story before. ))

After their success, they lined up in a perfect row, facing their leader shouting, "Sieg Heil" over and over. I swear I heard imperial music off in the distance at that point.

One of them laughed at me.. then I did the /cry emote. Shortly after they gave me a /salute for at least trying to defend the base.

My other story was when I rode with the German crew from New Aldera to hit the bases in Ice Bay. That was equally impressive. The base was ours but this was in the heyday of the covert shutdown exploit so the base survived. We had the destruct sequence going 3 times.. all of which were deactivated by the exploit.

I know the guild, and yes, they are rather good. The only problem is whenever I send their guild leader mails, he never responds. They have a good amount of people into RP, but they all speak german only.

I have had a few run-ins with German players...like everything else in life, some good some bad. 2 TEF griefs (once with a bastard jedi) and an awesome experience with a twi'lek musician named D'ope. Possibly on of the friendliest dudes ever...hard to even tell he wasn't a native English speaker except for the occasional oddly worded sentence.

But who here types good all the time? :D
