Fair Looting?

I've seen a similar loot system in other games work prettly well. People tend to argue less about an item if they both "roll" for it and one wins. This would be a good addition to the game. One of the reasons I stopped going on Krayt hunts or any of the other "good loot" types of hunts is that I never once got a valuable piece of loot.

With the system they describe, I at least now have a chance.

Ah, its all coming together. All the things I like about WoW that I wish SWG had is coming to fruition. Mwha ha ha ha ha!

I'm all for this system going into place. Even amongst friends loot can be a touchy subject. You may not say a word or act on it but its on the back of your mind. You also might feel guilty sometimes and can't help it. Putting a loot system in place elimates even the most minor awkward looting situations and makes it a little more fun. So when that good item comes up on a corpse and you actually win in it the dice roll you feel that much more excited about it.

I really like the "lootery" idea with the random rolling. Doesn't get much more fair than that.

I'd probably get yelled at for listing the new new systems that SWG is emulating that are "borrowed" from WoW.. but this is one of them.

I don't have a problem with that.. I think it is good for MMO's to borrow eachothers ideas. I am sure there are things that WoW did, or did not do, because of SWG.

Now what we need is an SWG auction house. You just can't beat one stop shopping.

Don't even get me started on this one. I'd kill for a working Auction House in SWG. The bazaar auction system sucks and always has sucked. To actually have one place to bid on and sell rare and usufull items would rock. Think what it could do for resource sales. In real life they have auctions for livestock, minerals and even flowers so I think if SWG wants to maintain that realistic economy then an auction house would fit in nicely.

Yes!! Though I would like them to keep the Bazaar terminals and make them a means to access the auction house. The one thing I don't like about the WoW auction house is that you have to travel to the one place in the world that has your alliances auction house. This makes sense in that world.. but in Star Wars, not so much.

I agree, the bazaar system should still be used. Having to travel to a remote place really doesn't work as well in SWG because travel is so painless now. I mean you could slap the auction house in a place like Mos Taike where you'd have to shuttle and then ride your speeder there but that would probably mean it won't be used as often.

I don't understand why the devs implimented such a poor auction system. It just isn't very functional and doesn't leave much room to make any sort of profit on it. I'm sure this was their way of trying to keep the economy down. They want people to rely on person-to-person trading and selling more than an automated system. Remember WoW doesn't have personal vendors.

We also have to factor in people's riches in the game. The millionaires in the game would probably make it too hard for average players to win auctions.

Guys, EQ2 and WoW are 98% the same game. SWG and EQ2 are run by the same company.
I've said this dozens of times but it seems like they're finally adapting all their 100% surefire winner ideas that have proven sucessfull in the past and present to SWG, which can only make for a better game.

(That being said WoW's rest system is the greatest idea ever. So glad EQ2 "borrowed" it... now just for it to be brought to SWG!)

I thought that shortly after Beta when they added personal vendors it ruined the game a notch for me. I REALLY enjoyed bartering, and having to trade goods face-to-face with people. As great as it is to be able to sell shit when you're not online, I just felt it made the game one more degree less personal.

Hmm... with economics the way they are, I am not sure this is a bad thing.

If MillionairreX overpays for some item.. now some of his money is in circulation.. thus making another player a little richer. Perhaps they will be spending their newfound wealth on other items, spreading the wealth out even further.

I am of the opinion that transactions are good for the economy, wealth in motion is a good thing.

Will the average player win an auction for something uber? No. But they do not get them today. I showed up to an auction in SWG to bid on an acklay stun baton. I gave myself a limit of 1.5 million credits. The thing sold for more than 12 million. An auction house will not make it any less possible for me to obtain and uber acklay stun baton. I think such a feat will remain equally impossible.

I predict an auction house will increase the value of the credit.

The vendor system is not my favorite thing. It does me no good if something I want to buy is on a vendor and I do not know it. Imagine if stores in RL restocked at random. You go to the mall and nothing is there. That is what shopping on vendors is in SWG. Not worth the time if you ask me.

Well.. the downside of having ONE auction house in SWG is the same as it is in WoW.. insane lag in the auction house area. This is why I like using the Bazaar terminals.. keeps the lag causing entities (aka characters) spread out.
