SWG Tales

Just wanted to put this out there. The admins are well aware of the lag problems on this message board. The problem roots back to our hosting provider (*cough* iPowerweb *cough*) who, quite frankly, sucks.

We are readying to move to another host soon. There will be a 1 to 4 day downtime period when that happens. Moving this board is going to be a very extensive process as the database has grown to be very large. I don't know how soon we are going to do this. Seret and I are working on three other sites at the moment, when all goes well with those we will finally get to SWGTales and move "the big one" over.

Just wanted the community to know what is going on ahead of time, we will let you know when we are ready to make the change. Thanks for your patience.

Most likely the move will occur on a weekend when activity on the board is low and either early in the morning or later at night. We'll do the best we can to keep the downtime minimal and problems non-existant.

I talked to our firms webmaster . He suggested using this.

Said it could be quickly set up on the old and new host to copy the database. He also warned me to tell you that you should either remove it after your are done or protect it.

He also showed me my internet usage logs :oops:

Thanks Isleh.. This is exactly what we will be using to transition the database. It will still take some time though, not to mention a couple days for the domain transfer to take place..

I cannot wait. This lag can drive me nuts at times. I will just be sending a large post and then it will not load for like 10-15 minutes.
