WOW, the GCW is back...

I dropped in to Mos Eisely to check out whats going down, here are my observations:
Jabe was immediately attacked by Rebel guards without provocation or scanning shortly after leaving the starport. I was able to escape the aggro and call my ATST for backup.
The Mos Eisely police are now attackable but appear to be somewhat neutral as they don't seem to know who is really in control.
As of right now, it would seem that sections of the city are under the control of both factions. While the Imperial flag and NPC guards are prevolant on the west end of Mos Eisely, the Rebel NPC's who con red even to Jabe are putting up a major fight near the starport.
A LOT, and I mean a LOT of Imperials are funneling out of the starports with ATST's readying to mop up the city.
If you think about it, the immersion level should be much better now, but the city goes from very quiet to very loud. My guess is there will be times when regular RP is not possible due to ferocious fighting. I felt like I was in Baghdad.
Welcome to the civil war.

Update: The flags just switched to Rebel.. I am leaving the city as I don't see myself getting back to the starport without buffs.

This might be a time to warn roleplayers who are coming to events like S&V to make sure they go on "leave" status before comeing to Eisley, if it has not alread been said.

If fighting=immersion.. then yeah.
What about for non-combatants with rebel sympathies?
I hope the "on-leave" status shields me from excessive silliness.

By the way, coverts have been defaulted to combatants. Have fun getting to your local recruiter.

I just went 'on leave'. Stormies show up as white unattackable NPCs.

It should, right? This is why we play a game centered around a civil war?

Sounds very cool to me. This really allows PvEers to enjoy some GCW immersion while the PvPers do their own thing. No more getting sniped outside of the Emperor's retreat while trying to complete the theme park.
But this is still a game and you should have the option to not participate in battles when you don't want to. Lets face it, the Stormies shouldn't know the face of EVERY Rebel out there unless they are super infamous.

What ever happened to "Let me see your identification?"
Now it is, "Search that corspe I just made for identification."
OOH!!
Idea:
People should have a factional activity rating that goes up when you do something faction specific.. Kind of like visibility in the Jedi system.
If you don't do anything for a while.. your "visibility" goes down and the stormies should leave you alone.

This was something that we really pushed for in Beta before the game came out. We also wanted high visibility Rebel officer PCs to show up on the BH terminals, but, alas, it was another great idea that got ignored.

Also becareful. Large groups of Corvette class mobs are sweep planets. Flying past a large group that included a couple Nova Troopers left me frantic when I didn't know what was happening.
Even with FA2 (43% protection to everything) I found myself at 1/5 health in 2 seconds. Not pretty.
I would have to assume that the Rebellion has sent down some heavy hitters as well.

Perhaps now, to remove yourself from situations of getting attacked from either an npc, or a pvper, one should leave the faction and just be neutral. If the person is a rper and noncombative, they can still rp that they are sympathetic to whatever side they choose. I realize for the jedi and such that is not an option. I dunno, just an idea. Although I forget to buff before I go anywhere, I think this might add a bit more spice to things.

To answer Ekade's idea... it's already been suggested in the Galaxies forums many times recently (including by myself) that we have a "Most Wanted" system based upon the Jedi system for Factions in general. Enough people have asked for it that this might be something we see put in game with the lucrative 'other factions' they keep saying their going to develop. Probably has something to do with Smuggler Revamp and and a combination of fleshing out the Underworld in game.
As for the New system... I think we all just got jerked around by the Devs with the <let's chuckle and put them as Overt> reset today. But, there is no reason to quit Factions. It's still the same. It's just divided into PVE (over/covert = combatant/on leave) and a PvP enabled version. Not as complicated as we were making it out to be. We just got thrown for a loop was all with reset.

As of the patch this morning, if you die you will get set to "on leave" status and not combatant anymore.
