Well unfortunatly I need to cancelle the follow up event. The only purpose for this follow up was to provide those who got involved a memorable experience via my BIG surprise. Unfortunatly, those incharge of the individual providing this surprise got word that this was involving slavery and imedialty canceled the surprise.

What was this surprise? Pex was sending us Nym himself to bid on some of the slaves for his personal ontorague. We had agreed on a time and date and we were working on his dialouge when his bosses heard that this was going to involve slavery. I'm sorry that this could not go through. Me a Whar were litterally giddy with the idea of seeing your reactions when you arived on my ship and saw Nym siting on the observation platform looking over the slaves in their cages.

Here's to political correctness.

Well considering that there is slavery in the movies and that all players involved are whilling partisipants that SOE would not have a problem with it.

Really folks there is no excuse for this, especially just because slavery is involved. Slavery is still a fact of life in some places on earth... And it fits right in with that precious CANON movie stuff.... WHAT IS THEIR GRIPE...

I will tell you what it is... Its the destruction of america, it's PC!

Lets not turn this into a big battle folks. We have to respect both sides here. On one hand Jerrel's event was very harmless. Its a part of life, a part of the game and part of the movies.

On the other hand slavery is a part of both worlds that is quite ugly. There is no "good" slavery (unless it is a voluntary fetish type of thing, but in this case its not). Slavery is ugly, cruel and a stain on our country's history. Even in the film the slaves were used to show the cruelty of Jaba the Hutt. The audience knew when he threw a helpless alien girl to a vicious creature that the main characters were dealing with someone evil.

So in the long run we have to respect the fact that some people shun this subject, no matter how you play it out. It goes beyond PC and becomes a matter of sensitivity. Just do you best to run your event without the help of a Dev and as long as you know you're keeping it tastefull you should have no worries.

What a great idea man, I am sorry it did not work out for you. Thats big corporations like SOE for you.

From SOEs eyes, they will be putting Sony's public image in the hands of people who are not employees or employees of a company under contract to mantain a positive image.

Pex is a real person, and I like to think he cares about the RP community or Whar wouldnt have gotten as far as he did.

I didnt have anything to do with it.. Jerrel took all initiative on this, it was his baby.

Did anyone else notice the Lamda shuttle outside the place? I think we still got a little bit of a touch from our friendly neighborhood RP Dev!

It could have just been a player event perk.

I never understood why it's cool in the game to slaughter a group of virtual people with a gun then loot their corpses of valuables, but slavery of virtual people is taboo.

Virtual Slavery trumps Virtual Robbery-Homicide? Meh.
