So, George, ya ever gonna clue us in as to WHY the need revenge or are you gonna be too busy counting your money?
Couldn't ya think of anything better?
Well, I feel awkward supporting anything regarding the last 2 SW films, but this title I can understand.Zannon wrote:http://www.theforce.net/episode3/index.shtml#24502

According to the SW Databank, the Sith were almost wiped out by the Jedi some 4,000 years before the current stories. And once again partially according to the Databank and Darkhorse comics, Darth Bane kept the Sith fires secretly burning. So I could see that a main tenet of the Sith, in their 4,000 year secret campaign, would be "revenge". Revenge on the Jedi for knocking them from their once lofty position.

Didn't Darth Maul say something about "soon we will have our revenge" in Episode 1: The Phantom Story Plot -err- Menace?

"At last we will have our revenge."
At least it ties things together nicely. Thanks Darth Maul!

Yeah but if you just watch the movies you really have no idea what happened 4000 years ago. The movies should pretty much be the gospel. Perhaps they will open up Ep3 in a "4000 years ago" scene so it ties all together.
I don't know, I really want to be excited about this movie - but just can't. Lucas took a priceless franchise and wiped his ass on it. Sorry, just a bit bitter - especially with what he's doing with the DVD releases.

While I agree overall about that the movies should be the primary reference, it's established so far in Ep 1 & 2 about why the Sith would aim for revenge.
Don't get me wrong there are plenty of sloppy suppositions that the audince is supposed to figure out on their own or just outright accept for a given. For example. "the Darkside clouds everything..." HOW is it clouding everything?! At least give us a scene of Palpatine or whoever leveraging some serious Sith magics against the status quo of The Force! Is he invoking spirits of former dark lords or what?! But don't just tell us "the Darkside clouds everything, because....well, it just does Dude! Hey, just eat some more popcorn and look at Natalie Portman's outfit!!! "
Why does The Force need "re-balancing" (by Anakin or Luke)? "Because the Darkside clouds everything"? Ohhh, okay gotcha
Really the title doesn't bother me at all. It's all of the loose ends that this story is supposed to tie up in what's supposed to be a very crowded story as it is.
Lucas looks as if he's going through what many creators do after their subjects become insanely popular. That being a grudging disrespect for the fans. JRR Tolkein, in his later years, was rubbed the wrong way by how people worshipped his stories. Ian Fleming grew to publicly disparage James Bond's popularity. Ernest Hemingway etcetera etcetera.
I think that you're right that he purposefully "wiped his ass" with it to an extent. I mean how else do you account for the Wile E. Coyote-like demise of Boba Fett in Episode 6? I mean , c'mon, please! That was an epic showdown potential that got flushed down the toilet. A running firefight through the Dune Sea? That would have been great! Boba Fett vs. Han Solo and the group! Alas, it was another sheet on Lucas' single-ply roll of toilet paper...
Sadly, for me, there are really only two Star Wars films. Episode 4 and 5. Return of the Jedi was spoiled for me by the Ewoks that should have been Wookies, how a WWE body slam killed the Emperor, and the general tone I felt of "hey we're all here in the last part of the franchise! Let's shut this mother down and move on."
And the first 2 episodes? Apart form Darth Maul and the Pod Race, they are an insult to the numbering system.
Sorry for the bitterness and the length, but that's how I feel.

The Dark side clouds everything because all beings have a dark side.
And as Palpatine grows in power politically and in the dark side of the Force, I imagine that its oppressive nature over Coruscant and the galaxy was also taking hold. It's been suggested several times in the books that in order to delve into the future and into meditation sometimes Master Yoda had to flirt with the Dark Side, and like let's go with what Yoda says....fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. I pretty much take this as a path to the dark side, as well. With a Galactic war breaking loose in the form of the Clone Wars, there's a lot of fear to go around. Since the Force draws from creatures all around, I bet it's pretty damn disruptive to the light side of the Force if you've got like, millions of being terrified into a panic.

Nah, sorry but there's one Sith Lord and one apprentice Sith in a galaxy with, at that time, thousands of Jedi and 12 Jedi Council members, but the Dark Side is strong enough to blind them all?
They need to come better than that if they expect audiences not to scratch their heads. And should you be required to read Expanded Universe stuff to still not get an explanation but just a possible inference or "suggestion" that this is what might be going on? I'm not saying that I want my plots spoon fed to me, but don't expect me to eat blindfolded and without tastebuds as well.
As far as the "fear path" to the darkside, it sounds plausible, but they're saying that "the Darkside clouds everything" in Episode 1, 10 years before the Clone Wars has it's first battle. And besides that, where has it been established that the Galaxy is in a state of fear during Episode 1?
If suffering feeds the Darkside to strength during the Republic, it must have been on a diet after the Empire took over. Then everybody was in fear and suffering but the Darkside still lost. And that was without the whole Jedi Order to stand in it's way.
We could go on and on about what there probably is no answer to (because Lucas probably hasn't even figured it out), but for me, it's undeniable that the story is sloppppyyyy! And that more relative effort was spent on new digital recording techniques than on the script and plot.

What, nobody's going to mention how this is yet ANOTHER cheap revision on the original three movies?
Original title of Return of the Jedi: Revenge of the Jedi.
Oh, he's SO very clever. Revenge of the Sith. Ha ha. We all got it THREE MONTHS AGO WHEN WE PREDICTED THIS IS THE TITLE YOU WERE GOING TO USE.

I'm checking some of the major fan sites about the original and the prequel trilogy almost everyday for the latest news, but i can't recall to have heard anything about editing the violence except the one scene with Greedo and Han that already had been edited for the special edition and now for the DVD release.Tensonic wrote:Especially how he is completely fucking up the Original Trilogy for DVD, editing out the violence now...

Are there any other scenes you are referring to?

Man, I wish I made it. Heh. All I did was take this pic:Scosciss wrote:Damn Dossk I like your Sig Did you make it? if so its tight...and I want one

Crop it, and add Dossk's name in Aurabesh. If someone out there's got "da mad photoshop skillz" (and judging by the looks of some of the sigs, there's more than one here), I'm sure they could make 'im green for ya.

Still a very nice sig for your character.
I seem to recall looking at a Toyfare magazine recently and seeing a series of SW statues coming out. One was an extremely cool statue of Bossk that I wish I could find a picture online for it.
