Dancing in Mos Tera

What Fun! Not only did I get to hear the music (normally i dance to droid clicks and beeps), but we had Ka-iv actually up on the stage with us...and Iago is a dancer! And we didn't do Exotic or Popular once!

And at the very end, it looked like the Twinkies could choreograph us into an exceptional Cantina Crawl !!

Wuhuu, Dancers have more Fun!

That was a lot of fun last night, I had a lot of fun roleplaying. And even got to rp with Seret!! I really think we should consider having S&V at this cantina next time. I have to give mad props to Ehili on one of the nicest Cantina decoration jobs I have seen.

I love the new LL, and I don't want to fight the idea of having S&V there....but I think we should still start out in Eisley for about an hour, before we go there. Calling the LL the "After Party" or something will let us gather some new RPers in Eisley, first, and then steal them away to a location w/o the random players arriving to beg for mind buffs.

And, when I say "Eisley", I mean "whichever location we choose where we can find new RPers and not necessarily the Despot."

We should go back to our plans on other possible locations. KS and Isleh emailed me a few ideas in game, and I'll post 'em up here, if they don't wanna do that themselves. /nudge /nudge /hint /hint

I would be honored to host an "after party" on sundays... I normally work Fridays so i dont usually get much chance to rp at the Roba.. but Sunday night... I had the most fun i have had in months..

Its nice to see all the hard work pay off by having others in your cantina enjoying themselves..

Thankyou for the compliments on the decor, i am doing a few slight adjustments.. i want it to have that .. "slightly seedy feel about it... yet still have a bit of class"

((Currently accepting donations of orange rugs- we need about 3 more to finish the lower floor to make it look complete))

Hope to hear from you all soon.. let me know if you would like to try this again Sunday night :)

I stumbled in here to see what everyone was talking about and feel like we need to ask a serious question about S&V night.

As one of the GMs that came up with the idea of S&V night, it was always our intention to use it as a way to make the rest of the server aware of the RP potential of the game and to give Mos Eisley more of a feeling of being alive. I have been working with Hashum, Dwilah, and a few others on a lot of things that will do this, but they all revolve around Mos Eisley and S&V night. Eventually we'd like to see ME become a constant RP hub where you could just stop by any time and RP your character. It's been a lot of work and it's finally to the point where we can start using the stuff we have set up around the city and elsewhere in SWG. My fear of having a roving S&V night that starts at the Despot and then moves to a player city is that it makes things I've got in motion inconvenient for everyone and it also doesn't allow us to pull from the normal crowd around ME, which is why we chose ME in the first place.

Anyway, I need some feedback on this so the rest of the GM people and I don't waste any time with something that is unwanted or not viable. It seems like S & V is really becoming more of a social hour focusing on relationships than the gathering to make the game feel more Star Warsy it was intended to be. I'm not knocking anyone's playstyle, I'm just trying to get an idea of where everyone wants their RP to go. The Casino is just as guilty of the shift toward relationship RP, but I'm working on changing that in a similar fashion as S & V.

I think it would be wisest if everyone took one day out the week for their event. There's 2 days we hold aside for long time "stable" events...thats Roba and S&V/Casino night. I used to be a big attendee at S&V, but that dropped off along while back as it started become less S&V and more happy social time. S&V should be like walking into the Mos Eisley cantina from ANH and having to watch your bloody back...not how many dancers you can fit on the stage. Thats ANTI S&V honestly. Its not supposed to be hug night at Lady Valarians. Thats alot of my reason for playing EQ2 there for a bit. Its impossiable to stay in character in an event thats supposed to be promoting your "attitude" when 90% of the attendees arnt lending to the S&V atmosphere. Its like iceskating uphill...very frustraiting.

The first couple months we did S&V were the best months. If we could take it back to that level of rawness...then I think we wouldnt need to worry about people wanting to float it outside of the Despot.

We had talked about roving S&Vs for awhile before the ME RP idea came up...and that was when S&V night was sort of failing to stand on its own.

I think that relationships are key to what we role-play...how people interact with one another. What's important to differentiate is the types of relationships that are being highly stressed in general.

Most people want their character to have a romantic interest...it's just flat out fun, and it creates an interesting dynamic to play off of. What we can all challenge ourselves to do, however, is make our characters multi-dimensional and not focus on one type of RP, whether it's romantic, combat-related, or what have you.

Relationships of any kind (romantic or platonic) can affect people deeply and on a daily basis without interfering with their professions. If we want to stress our Star Wars roots and really get back to what we're here to role-play, Star Wars, we can all work on playing out what our characters actually do for their professions and stuff.

personally I thought last sundays S & V was really great. There was alot more people, alot of interaction. The only reason for the after party would be so that S & V stays as it was intended.
The "after party" at the luckky lekku was alot of fun. But there was no theme, we were all dancing, even those of us with only novice entertainer. It was a nice way to end the evening just goofing off with good friends. By no means would it be something that should replace S & v, but if we did do it as an after party like we did last sunday, it would be a way to enhance the evening and let us just relax and be goofy after a weekend of rp.
The Fri nights at the Roba, S&V, and Casino night are all great staples and are really very needed for the rp community. There are always things we can do to spice em up and keep them interesting. We all seem to fall into a funk where we are just gathering to be social.

Maybe its just me then. I've always thought S&V was supposed to be where people would be a little worried to take their eye off the guy in the corner.

I fully agree it should be.. but as you pointed it.. its hard to be afraid of the dancers. Some s&v nights they are the only ones that show up! Perhaps we should all rethink how we go to S&V and have a do over...
