Ugh, SWG Exp 2 is worse than GL when it comes to titles...

do they have no creativity?
do they listen to what they're saying?
their "working title" better get worked on, cuz it blows...
"Rage of the Wookies????"
why not call it...
"We need something to promote when the new SW EP3 comes out so let's make up ANOTHER wookiee war just like the movie which happened many years before the current timeline and throw in HORDES of trandoshan slavers which havent been seen in any SW film or book and on top of that throw in spaceships from SW EP3 that only one character used and wasnt in mass production and is still the wrong timeline, Oh and don't forget we are throwing in cybernetic parts because only 2 characters in the entire history of SW had fake hands, and we're also adding another impossible "bunker" called mining quests you wont be able to accomplish without 20 people to help you"
but maybe that won't fit on the box

"we've created a whole new planet to explore, Kasshyk! It's yet ANOTHER jungle planet that looks like a giant ewok village. That way we could just reuse every tree, bridge, hut, from all of our other many jungle planets and plop them all together to create a "new" one because we are under the gun and can't create anything from scratch that actually would be different and cool. And don't forget that annoying rain that will appear all the time on the "new" jungle planet too that everyone enjoys and brings fps to a grinding slide show."

Frankly I don't care what planet they add, I'm just glad to have something new. I'm more concerned about them over balancing in the CU then I am about the title of the next expansion.

Though, I'd rather have seen something related to the timeline added planetwise.
Hoth! *cough* *cough* ((Since they don't care about definitive battles completely... this could've been an excellent ongoing battleground for the factions to go to; Not to mention Tauntauns being the right color and name!!! Sure, it's a whole lot of nothing. But who wouldn't like to go to a waistland that reminded you of what it was like 'before' housing went available to every 2 credit bum that only came to check it out long enough to block my speeding swooper fun!!!))
The could've even called it something sucky like 'Revenge of the Rabid Cu-Pa's Freezer Meat!' and I would've delt with it. The whole gimmick with it now makes me think their totally getting ready to screw the timeline and give everyone the glowstick too.
*end rant*

Not to start a flame fest..but
I think it's great that the devs are adding a new planet for exploration. I think it's cheesy however to tie this to the Episode III continuity(although predictable). As we all know, GL is a marketing genius. This is yet another marketing ploy by Lucasarts under the guise of "adding content". LA hedges on the fact that Star Wars fans will be hungry for anything and everything SW related no matter the quality. The true test for me will be after the CU.

Well all-in-all its just smart business. Tie your product in with a major theatrical release and you're golden.
But I join the masses in enjoying the fact they we get something new, including the new planet, even if its not substantial enough for us to throw up our arms in praise. They mention 100-some quests that will be added along with the planet and that should be enjoyable.
I actually look forward to including more of the Wookies vs. Trandoshan element into the game. The quests are supposed to be designed around that and not the Ep III content because lets face it, thats history. There is a lot that we can experience in that conflict and lets hope they do it up right.
Remember, hate 'em all ya want. We'll still be forking over the cash in the long run.

I have to agree with the last sentence, They are trying to make this game souly based off jedi, I mean everyone who was here befor the jedis started poping up remembers just how much fun you had outside of RP. I mean I sure do. I wish they moved anyone who wanted to, to a non-jedi server I would so be there and would wish everyone I know to follow. I dont have to hunt jedi for content thats what you guys are for

I've posted previously about the wookiee Expansion in less objective terms and now I'd like to take the opportunity to view it a bit more fairly, with Hits & Misses...
Hits:
The name - Honestly, I really don't see anything wrong with that. Wookiees are prone to bestial rages and the pulling off of arms if you believe Solo. I always thought that if I could change Star Wars in a few ways that Chewbacca would have several scenes of flinging Stormtroopers around by their jawbones and swinging his bandolier like Grandpa's belt used to come off when he caught me smoking cigarettes.
Chewie woudn't have to go around slavering at the mouth but the title, Rage of the Wookies, invokes for me the rougher edge of what I think Chewie should have more of.
The slavery - Lore after lore in Star Wars has mentioned slavery in general, and the specific angle between Trandos and Wookiees. We can't yet see how it will be expressed, but as RP fuel and content background wookiee enslavement is a pretty good and previously verifiable topic.
I ask myself, "If the movie wasn't coming out and they based the expansion off of the same content, how would I like the idea?" I have to say that I would be surprised that they would address slavery so directly in the game. Overall, I'd approve.
Cybernetics - Viable mention there. Dengar the bounty hunter was also a cyborg. Though more with his nervous system though. However, we all probably will see, of course, way too much of cyberneticized players running around. This, like slavery, is just one of those viable topics that haven't, as Skarr pointed out, seen much light in the franchise. Nevertheless, they do fit in this timeline as well, regardless of the movie co-release.
Misses:
Marketing - Damn skippy, this is a blatant movie tie-in. Show business means...Business > The Show. Always has been, probably always will be.
Jedi Starfighter - *throws hands up* I think this one is obvious. More show business. There are fanboy/girl dollars out there that Sony wants to tap, bottom line.
I'd hope that most fans, even Jedi Players, wouldn't be caught dead in one of those fighters, but...there's hoping for ya'.
Unknown:
Mining Quests - we can't really say yet how hard or fun they will/won't be. One thing that I give Sony credit for is answering the call from early last year about quests and play being too easy. The average well equipped master could knock over most things in game, not to mention the super-elite player squads. In response, Sony dropped the Geo Lab, the Corvettes, and the Death Watch Bunker on us.
If you've never tried all 3, there's a clear difficulty progression among them in the order listed. Tough, Hard, and No. No! I'm terribly sorry. No, please don't get up. *Blast!* (<---C-3PO on Bespin).
My main point being, even if hard quests come, they are possible, but requiring a level of character profession knowledge and, more importantly, grouping culture that is rare among most people that play this game.
Going into somewhere like the DWB requires you to fight as if you were back in the pre-buff days. Not many people remember how to do that.

And just how, exactly, does one KEEP a wookiee slave?
Do they get pithed or something? I mean, hello?

Well I'm a wookiee so I'm all for finally getting my homeworld
But I would have liked the expansion to at least have 2 worlds or be much cheaper
Like maybe have the Trando homeworld as well!!!

I think the Twilek homeworld would be awesome!
Unfortunately, environment is not one of the strengths of SWG. I don't think they could do Ryloth justice.

We do need more real estate
15km x 15km? Wilderness?
Reminds me of The Blair Witch Project. How the hell can you get lost in Burkittsville MD? If you're lost at night? Look for the orange glow in the sky... that's Frederick MD less than 10 miles away!
