Here's another post about the CU. Thought some of you might be interested in reading up.

I am especially disheartened with this statement.

Is combat level going to vary by profession, implicitly recognizing that some professions are more capable than others, or is the intent to have all combat professions be roughly equal in value (though obviously different in execution)?

The answer is the latter. All combat professions will be roughly equal in value, though different in execution. Note that I'm not saying all professions will do the same damage per second. There will be variations across professions but they will be balanced.

A brawler should not be balanced with a TKM, nor should a Master Marksman be balanced with a MBH. I find this irritating. Why have elite professions if it's all balanced?

I am going to assume they meant that in the scope of elite professions. The idea of the lower level profs being equaled out never crossed my mind.

Do they know when they are going to shove this CU out? I am curious cause I want to get some grinding done before they obliterate my character.

I believe it's scheduled for May 5th. And that's exactly why I've been doing a lot of grinding lately.

Ugg, if there is one thing I cannot stand it is the fact that I have a month more to go.

Why disheartened, Hashum? IMO, a Master Carbineer and a Master Swordsman should be equal. They are both masters of their medium, trained in their art. There will still be advantages and disadvantages--the TK will still be at his best up close, the Carbineer far away.

"Balance" is vague. It could mean that players have to work together because there are strengths and weaknesses in each. Or it couldn't

Well when it is a balance I think it should mean that each combat profession is equal and that its strength in one way can be its weakness. A swordsman should do good against maby a unarmed while a rifleman is good against a pistoleer who is good against so on and so forth. I think each profession is good against someone so it is kinda equal.

So far, I did not see anything in that release from Blair that gives me pause. I also agree that, instinctively, I don't feel that all combat professions will be re-created equally in terms of master starters being equal to master elites or master hybrids.

The one thing that does stand out for me is the openess! When did the first concept notes come out? About 10 days ago? And now they are doing what they said they would in terms of analyzing and answering the massive customer response in a relatively short time. This is a departure from their old often taken pace of "Ask, Receive, & Go Silent".

For good or bad, I hope to see more of it.
