I can't speak for everyone, but I am not at all pleased at all with the language surrounding the role of Teras Kasi:
Teras Kasi Artists are experts at avoiding damage. TKAs have several utility abilities to further help them survive standing toe to toe with the most powerful opponents in the galaxy. Their damage output is only moderate however making them less than ideal for taking opponents on their own.
Teras Kasi is only a moderate damage output? Looks like my entire profession is getting hardcore nerfed. Honestly, I identify my character with being a Teras Kasi. If they're making that profession worthless for solo'ing then I will probably quit the game. I enjoy hunting by myself, its my main activity in game these days.
Personally I have been dreadin this "upgrade". Aside from the whole buff situation, I am very happy with the combat system as it is. So there's really no way for me to be happy about them changing a system it took me a year to understand the first time around.

I answered No. Why?
Many reasons. First off, we've been playing paid beta since this thing launched and now we've got to do it all over again when all they had to do was decrease buff size, lower protection rates on armor, and simply fix the specials of the different classes.
Most of what their saying is just a rehash of what they said about 'this' system when it came out and applying it to the new system. HAM works! It's different from other games and the game already provided you the opportunity to mix and match professions anyway!
For me, CU, while at first a hope; Is just more of the same old stuff to drive the game from being nearly completely soloable; To making it so you can't do anything without having a group! Which is fine, if you don't mind grouping... all the time!
I'll likely stay with the game because I enjoy RP now. But this new system is a mockery and slap in the face to us all. Just fix what we have and leave it at that! That's what I'd tell the devs. The new requirements for professions don't make any more sense than the old ones. I sincerely hope that their hearing this from a majority of players too!
I simply finish with... It's amazing how SOE keeps trying to shine their own turds of mistakes and hard headedness. But you know what? You can shine a turd all you want; It's still a turd!

Jabe, do you see your self as a TKA because right now it fits your playstyle or is your playstyle the way it is because your are a TKA?
I really like this. There is a little something for everyyone.

It fits my playstyle not to mention that the rp benefits of the profession are enriching to a character.
I like solo'ing and I hate depending on toher people to get in to my grind session (e.g. the reason I hate buffs). So honestly if this new system is incredibly group dependant they are not doing themselves any favors. They are making one type of player happy while alienating another.... AGAIN.
I am really leary of this revamp now. For the longest time I assumed if they were really listening to the community it would be nothing but a good thing. I am now deeply concerned, more about this than any other change they have made since I have started playing Galaxies.
The other point is obvious as well. This upgrade is going to make questing for Jedi next to impossible. I doubt after this upgrade I will be able to grind out a million xp per day solo. I like that, and I am not going to be happy needing to find a group to wander about Dath in a month from now.
I really hope I am wrong and that this thing is not exactly how it reads. Is this up on test center yet?

To be honost it seems not to bad in my mind. I like that now bh's can take damage for once and not get killed in three shots of kd dizzy and unarmed attack three.

I also like the changes. I think its making professions more rounded IMHO. We dont really know anything till we start testing it though.

Well Jabe I completely agree with your concerns. However I've read about every post I've been able to find on the CU and I don't believe their Nerfing 'soloing'. Not in general at least. They are trying to make it more beneficial to be in a group but not 100% necessary.
I definately think there are some major concerns, and I'm very worried about not being happy with it, I just think they're trying to over balance by changing "everything". Hopefully I'm wrong as well.
I only get to play for a few hours a night maybe 4 days a week. And I'm on earlier then most every one of my friends. So I need to be able to solo now I don't mean solo Krayt Dragons or Even Rancor's necessarily but I need to be able to fight difficult mobs for decent XP.

I am not particularly happy that I will have to waste points on unnarmed. So I guess I'll just drop combat all together. I have no desire to "grind" anything at any time anymore. Perhaps I'll just work on ID.

Upon further review of the document I must say it sounds better then I originally thought. Implementation will be key. I'm still not happy about the damage types being taken out or changed but it still sounds like soloing will be an option based on what this new document said.

I'm not liking the way pistoleers are headed though. I've never known any pistol to be a crowd control device. Maybe its just me.

A guy runs into a crowd, waves a pistol and yells something, the crowd screams and ducks to the ground...? Policemen carry...? Crowd control?
Personally, I'm really liking the way everything is looking. I'm particularly interested in the healer aspects (duh) but it looks like they're making the Medic profession a lot more like the Novice combat professions, which I like. I can't say a ton without seeing it in play--just that I'm excited. And that all the combat stuff makes sense to me...it's just that people have to get used to it, get used to the new system, find new ways of being uber. Because people will do it.

With the lower cost of ID, one can master Dancer, Musician, ID and Entertainer now.
Though I may keep fencer so I can thwart any hooligans or black knights that get in my way.
