Rumors say he's playing Sandman but we'll see. He's a good actor and should be able to pull just about any villian off with Raimi at the helm.

Least Popular Spider Man Villain Candidate:

Mysterio.

Yeah, I know. Sorry. But, I always dug Mysterio. I know that won't be the villain. All the special effects potential of a Sandman villain is just too good to resist (e.g. Terminator 1000 series).

Whatever they do, I just hope they don't try a villain team-up in the same movie. Let it be one on one.

I thought "Sider-man's" arch-nemesis was Rotten Man, who would take his sour-blaster cannon and bitter-blaster rocket pack and neutralize Sider-man's sweet appley powers of goodness...

I'm actually with ya on the Mysterio kick. Its funny how we feel guilty for like "fishbowl head." But before anyone tears into the character go and read Kevin's Smith run of Daredevil and you might change your mind a bit.

Personally I am and will always be a big Venom fan. I like the origin, I like the character and damn well think it would look great with special effects in a film. Venom gets my vote.

But I'm betting it'll be Dr. Doom, Church just looks like him :P

I don't know if they would throw Doom into this one. Doom is the bad guy in the Fantastic 4 film...I bet they wanna be original with this one.

The only issue I have with that is the backstory, they'd almost have to totally ommit this, or go off on a huge tanget in this movie, that doesn't seem like it would fit...

Of course it is hollywood, so anything is possible...

Well I have two hunches as to who he playing.

1) Venom--I heard that in the original cut of Spider-Man 2 there was supose to be a scene after the credit finnish rolling where JJ son lands on the moon and then is attacked soon after by the symbiote. Since we know Raimi has already considered puting a teaser for Venom he may put the guy in the third film..or he's savin that teaser for the end of the third film.

2) Hobgoblin--Being the Spider-Man freak that I am I know that the original Hobgoblin had nothing really to do with the Osborn Family. He was a con-man who bought the location of a store house that Norman Osborn used to store Green Goblin gear from some street punk who stumbled upon it when running from Spider-Man after a robbery. It would be easy to adjust the story to have Harry hiring this con artist to run around as Hobgoblin. Now before you start saying how unlikely that is remember that there was alot of obsure but great character stories in the second and I could see Raimi doin this as well.

Other characters sugested on comic book web sights:
Electro, Lizzard (very unlikely), and Carnage (equally unlikely)

Harry was also the Green Goblin if I remember correctly. In my Amazing Spiderman #129 (Yes...it is an origional first appearance of The Punisher, or I wouldn't own it :P) he goes to tell Peter that he is the Green Goblin.

Well there has been three Green Goblins. Norman, Harry and some other guy that use the Goblin out fit to black mail Harry if I remember correctly.

What I want to see for the villan to be is Venom. He is one of the coolest bad guys in the comics. Would be neat to tie in daredevel for a cameo for a moment. Anyhow, venom would be a cool badguy. Also the Lizard is a for sdure to be in it, we see him in the second movie so we might see him in the third.

watch it will be lizardman!!!!!! hobgoblin then doc oc then lizardman!!!!! then um shoot I still havent even watched spider man 2 so I dont know who the villan was in that movie.

Since Peter is mackin' Mary Jane right now, there's angles left for Harry/Goblin and John Jameson/Venom. They were both on MJ's man list before.

The comics fan in me would love to see an entire movie dedicated to Peter's struggle with the willpower of the black symbiote suit. I doubt it would happen, but it would be an opportunity to do "evil Spidey" without taking the cheap route.

I could see evil Spidey webbing the toilet seat in the "Up" postion to tick off Mary Jane.

HELL YA!!!!! I didnt like any of it till the toliet trick j/k. Awesome Idea and I have to agree there.
