IT
FUCKING
ROCKS!!!!
Ebert was right. It IS like the graphic novels on steroids. And by graphic, I do mean graphic. You think a scene from the novels might be too violent for the movie.......wrong! Dead wrong!! I asked my wife what she thought about the movie. She said, "I don't know. I had my eyes covered for half of it." It's that violent.
I hadn't read the 3 novels the movie covers in years, and didn't re-read them so it would be fresh. That said, the memories flood back from watching the movie. The movie's scene are taken right from the novels. It's eerie and dark and violent and creepy and real. You will recognize your favorite scenes from the novels (I won't say which were mine cuz I don't want to spoil, but I will later)
Willis makes a good Hartigan, just maybe not quite old enough. Clive Owen make a real good Dwight I thought. And the biggest surprise, Mickey Roarke as Marv was the absolute fucking BEST!! I went in thinking the facial work looked cheesy, but after just a few minutes on screen it is totally the opposite. He is Marv, and he fucking kicks so much ass!! It's my favorite 1/3 of the movie. The other surprise....little Elijah Wood. He is no happy-go-lucky hobbit. He's the creepiest motherfucker you will ever see.
Overall, I will say this is the best comic-book-turned-movie I have ever seen. If you like the Sin City graphic novels, go see it. If you love them, go see it, NOW! You won't be disappointed.
