Echani
Echani is a martial arts style that became the offical technique of Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guards. The style is thought to have its origins in the sytyle practiced by the Sun Guards of Thyrsus, but Palpatine had experts modify the original techniques to make them more deadly. The brutal echani style is full of jabs, chops, kicks, and other quick and dangerous strikes, focusing on deadliness over finesse.

K'tara
K'tara is a martial arts style often practiced by Special Forces units in order to maximize damage to an opponent while minimizing the amount of noise made by the attack. K'tara focuses on short, quick motions. Most maneuvers begin from the set position and move within a small rectangle frame by the targets shoulders and hips. A soldier using the K'tara style can quietly disarm an opponent and reduce him to unconsciousness within six seconds of combat, attracting little attention. This martial arts style emphasizes stealth.

K'thri
K'thri is a special martial arts style that dates back to the days of the Old Republic. The style gained popularity in many parts of the Galatic Republic as a type of sport. Professional athletes competed to see who had the greatest mastery over the style, with some competitors garnering great wealth and fame from their success. The style is some what flashier than others, since its practitioners were often enterainers as much as martial artists. The K'thri style focuses on speed and rapid, fluid attacks, with wide sweeping motions accompanying quick jabs and a good deal of fancy footwork.

Teras Kasi
The martial arts form known as Teras Kasi is an extremely rare ancient art. The form's origins are found on the world of Bunduki in the Pacanth Reach, populated by a near-Human species known as the Epicanthix. The Followers of Palawa are a secretive sect of hermits that guard the teachings of Teras Kasi. It is unknown whether or not the Followers created the martial arts style, but nearly all Teras Kasi masters learned the style by journeying to Bundukito learn from these keepers. The name Teras Kasi is actually means "steel hands," referring to the damage and toughness of the martial artist's unarmed attacks. The style focuses on power and strength, including varying levels of damage depending on the force that is applied to the attacks. The style is unique, and masters are few and far between (until SOE got their hands on it).*

Wrruushi
wookiee warriors have crafted a special style of fighting that combines their incredible strength with percise motions to perfect a martial arts from uniqueto their species. The style, known as Wrruushi, cannot be taught to members of other species . The style focuses heavily on punches, jabs, and throws. Unlike the quicker martial arts styles, Wrruushi focuses more on single strikes, no more than two or three at a time.

*added entry

Note: Even though all martial artist are Teras Kasi one could still say that he or she is one of the other forms or martial arts.

Being a lover of all things twi'lek, I wonder if anyone has a slick writeup of fighting styles developed on Ryloth. I always felt like melee would be prevelent due to the fact that twileks live underground in caverns. A ranged weapon would be less useful because you would round the corner and instantly be in melee range of a potential opponent.

I don't know if the "Lekku windmill" is a valid fighting style, Ekade. Unless of course you are a young girl twi'lek. Or a pre-pubescant twi'lek boy.

Or me.

Actually Seret labeled it "Flailing Lekku of Death".

As to the question whether it was a valid fighting style..

*does a spin, causing lekku to whip through the air, stopping suddenly in a dramatic martial-art looking pose*

.. I can show you just how valid it is.

Actually I think I saw in one of the X-Wing books a Twi' using a martial arts form developed by their species. I was very flashy and almost looked like dancing but it didn't utilize the lekku's because they are (as I understand it) very sensitive organs/apendiges. Also when you consider the fact that Twi's use the lekku to convay deep thoughts and ideas that verbal speach is incapable of leads me to think that they would refraim from using it in a way that may possibly damage them. I may be wrong though, it's happened before and it'll happen again.

Yeah, I figure they would suggest their martial art was alot like dancing. The bulk of the twilek lore suggests twileks are greaceful, athletic, and really into dancing.

And yes, I was aware ther lekku were sensitive/sensual appendages. The Twirling Lekku O Death was a sick fantasy of Seret's. "Realistically" lekku would never be used for fighting.

Regarding lekku in fighting: I think of them as a collection of muscles both major and minor - similar to the tentacles they resemble. Thus they could be used for strangling, or snapping the head around a la vampires' favorite quick kill method. However, the Twi would have to be darn close to the victim to use the lekku, so Twi'lek would not have developed a martial art for using them.

But given the Twi reputation, they might have a name for assasination using the lekku during a sexual encounter. In fact, I would bet on it.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet the technique was developed into an art by the Priestesses on Ryloth.

With lekku control and strength becoming an artform in itself.
