Just wondering what schools people went to or are going to, and what they majored in, and whether it relates to the career they are doing now. This subject came up at work, how most people's major didn't have much to do what they are doing now.
I went to Indiana State Univ., home of the Fighting Sycamores (yep, we were the fighting trees!)
I majored in Professional Pilot Technology so, in this case, it defintely applies to what I'm doing now. But mine is quite specific compared to other people's majors.
Graduated, well, a while ago we'll just say

So I'm more in the design area of art now, biiiiig deal. I started out working in a custom frame shop, so that's kinda artsy, right? But I do make commisioned drawerings every once in awhile...Now if I only had more time...

I graduated with a BS in ass whoopin....which I do on a regular basis.
However...in reality:
I have an AAS in Information Systems Security from Forsyth Tech here in NC. I need to go back to school and make it a bachelors....I know. Good thing about the computer industry, its not based so much on paper as it is experience. Thats what got me my job as a lead support tech.

It ticks me off how some people dont know the difference between a programer and a tech. Its like apples and oranges.

About 5 credits shy of my AS in the Arts at SouthEastern Illinois College (SIC) here in Southern IL. I may actually transfer and finish my AS elsewhere; It seems I have a huge problem with public speaking.
My goal was to go to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale to get my BA in Cinema and Photography so I could start an Independent Film Career as a Writer/Director/Producer/Actor making my own movies. It's still my hope and passion; but I don't know exactly how the second part will transpire now since I'm not even sure if I'm going to continue on for the BA. I may go to a trade school and try out for just a Film School rather than an University.
I know I want to do something related to film making or writing though. ((I keep getting prodded to go be a teacher))

went to DeVry for abit... hated the idea of working on chips and math in a factory the rest of my life... went to Ohio University for a bit (to be a history teacher), stopped to focus more on my job while my wife finished up college. Now that she has her BA and will soon be getting her masters, I am thinking of changing it all again and going back to school for something else...

I'm working on an Associate in Transfer to Arizona State University(15 credit hours away!). I'll be majoring in Business--Network Administration with a minor in Kinesiology(exercise physiology). The major is kind of a given(Jabe knows). My minor is a bit unusual but I enjoy working out and I would like to help people get fit and feel good about themselves.
I'm currently employed by a computer sales computer and work as a inbound sales representative.

BA in Psychology (minor in sociology) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. 2004.
Novall, why is it so insulting that people don't know the difference between a programmer and a tech? I guarantee there are a handful of people here who couldn't tell you the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist.
That was my preface for this...I don't know the difference between a programmer and a tech. :-(
Anywho, I work for a small manufacturer of masonry products as a sales rep and office monkey.
Not really why I went to school. But it's a living.
