The "Backslash Bug"

Anyone ever heard or had problems with this? It's a recent bug that disables your keyboard's backslash key "/", period key ".", and all of your number keys from the top row while in game.

I've been getting it off and on over the last month or so, but it usually goes away after 30 mins or so. Tonight it stayed with me for 4 hours (and counting, it's still not gone after re-logging).

And this during my first night dealing at the Casino. Made for a few miscues and fast flying fingers, having to type all number amounts out in words and second party tipping the winners :x :x

I haven't went to the SOE boards with this yet, but I'm told by friends that I'm not alone and no fix has been found yet. Does anyone maybe have a solution for when it does happen, if not an outright preventative fix?

Three weeks ago this bug cost me a raid appointment in the Geo Lab (I couldn't type numbers to tip the Doctor for a buff :lol: )

Keer I got the same thing after I reset my keymap on TC Gorath and the next time I logged into live Gorath my number and / keys all were disabled. The only way I could get them to work was to switch my keymap to a modeless variety. Thats not a long term solution though as SWG modeless means you cannot pan yer view with yer mouse etc.

In conclusion my trouble all started after resetting keymap to Star Wars Galaxies on TC Gorath. If you figure it out please drop me a note explaining what ya did to resolve this bug.

Does your number pad freeze too? Until a permanent solution comes up, I would just use them.

When I deal I use my left hand on the number pad and my right hand to keep a written tally of the scores so that my brain doesn't short out and screw up adding.

I think you can turn the chase camera off... it's a checkbox when you select the key map.

From what it sounds like this keymapping bug is probably caused from TC-Gorath. It has to be a setting that has stayed in memory and followed you back in to regular SWG. In any case you should be able to resolve the problem by rebooting. If its still there then it can't be TC-Gorath because all other settings are stored completely seperate from the live system.
