Would Purging Our Own Mailboxes Help?

I was just thinking of ways that would perhaps lessen the strain on the system/techs. I just purged all of the unwanted private messages from my inbox in advance of the forum purge to come. Copied the remainder to offsite.

One less thing for the system to do or would it even matter?
