Guide to what armor you can wear after CURB...

the armor scenario got very complicated, so here goes:

There are three MAIN types of armor: Battle, Assault, and Recon

specific professions can only wear certain types: If you're not certed for it, you cannot even equip it to wear it. Those professions are:

Battle armor: Carbineer, CM, CH, Doc, Fencer, Pike, Ranger, Swordsman

Assault: BH, commando, squad leader

Recon: Pistoleer, riflman, smuggler

Any other profession:psg's

so no basic fighting profession, or any crafting profession, or any entertainer profession can wear anything but a psg...

Now, each type breaks down into their specific types of armor:

Battle: Padded, Marauder (quest), RIS (loot and craft), Bone, Kash Blk Mtn, Ith Defender, stormtrooper, reb battle armor

Assault: Comp, marauder (quest), chitin, BH (looted and crafted), Mandolorian (looted and crafted) Kash Hunting, Ith Sentinal, shocktrooper, reb assault

Recon: Tantel, ubese, mabari, recon marauder (quest?), kash ceremonial, Ith guardian, scouttrooper, reb marine armor

NOW, each specific type of armor is broken down into 3 lvls: basic standard, and advanced...it is based on the fighting skill level of your character...what levels cert which level of armor, I don't know.

there are no %'s anymore on the armor, and I havn't tested it out as too how it works in combat, so no info there

BUT, what you can expect is prices to soar like a mofo...all of the armors went up in resources to make by an AS. and not only did the number go up, but most or all include very specific resources (not generic ones)...in fact there are 20 new resources that aren't even in the game until the CURB goes live, so expect delays on getting ANY armor after it goes live...

also, AS's with bonuses to xp mean little to nothing anymore, since the experimentation process is totally simplified, that all it does is add more condition to the object (same goes for WS), not the quality...

BUT on top of all that, the CURB makes armor and weapons the least factor in determining whether you will win a fight, it's all in the skill level of you and your opponent...

your combat skill level determines everything..if your opponent is 5 levels higher than you, he will kick you ass to oblivion with even a cdef pistol, and vice versa...no armor or weapon will prevent an ass whooping...

so what does this all mean? not sure, but I'm sure it will include upset people

When you say skill level of your opponent.. does that mean the player or the character?

I really hope it means the player, but based on how you phrased the 2nd paragraph it sounds like "combat skill level" is a character attribute.

Personally I would like to remain at least somewhat combat viable AND be and entertainer at the same time. I would hate for it to be.. if you are not 100% combat.. you are a total gimp.

I mean to express it as a payer characters combat skill level

this level is determined by what ELITE combat skills you have

now the MAX is 80 pts

I did MBH on TC, with no other elite skills and he was a 55, I then added 9 carbine skills and reached 66 (i was doing a makeup of what skor would be after curb, he has other skills like merchant that take up points)

skill level pertains to PVP and PVE, because in the colored con circle, is now a combat number as well

the other way to RAISE your combat skill lvl is to GROUP...thus forcing people to group to take on hard PVE...

Hmm.. so my Master Brawler will be close to useless?

Maybe I will be better off taking some skills in TKM? Based on the prereqs and remaining skill points I could get maybe 1 or 2 trees. :???:

I don't mind grouping, I get bored to death soloing in any game.

I doubt your master brawler will be useless.
I've read quite a few people have enjoyed master marksman, and master brawler on the test servers... They apparently are just, nice to have, when you cant take on two full master professions.

Personally, I dont see how this effects anything but a realistic side of the game. IE: if someone has all there points put into combat, and go against say... a dancer/fencer. The full combat character should win. This is just common sense.

Personally, my big bad image might go completely to *ahem* as my bounty hunting abilities will take away from pure combat.
Plus, Jabe will love this, not having buffs is going to add a whole new element to this game.

Jabe will be a gimp after conversion. I know this because I have already played him on TC3, I get converted to a level 63 combatant even though I retained master TKA. Level is ultimately based off of how many skill points are dedicated to combat. Having Medic 0440 probably is what pushed me to 63, meaning you will nearly have to have all your skill points going towards combat realted stuff. I had a level 80 pistoleer own the crap out of me. Level 80 is the max and you will need this at minimum if you are ever going to PvP.

FS realted branches appear to not effect your combat rating. On TC I dropped them and my combat rating did not change - nor did my performance.

I wouldn't drop anything until they address those bonuses. :)

There would be no point since they don't take up skill points.. :)

Are you saying the FS Skills no longer waste 24 skill points? That maybe the best news I've heard since sliced bread.
