its valley course with HIGH side walls
LONG course
has tuskens and lizards and whatnot to attack you
has tons of ppl's houses and harvs in the way
has some of those tall spindly mesas that pop in at the last secoind before you hit them (like right after the droid says go, BS devs, BS)
the record for today was 436 seconds
1st attempt i cut all corners, went over mesas etc
time 568 secs
2nd attempt i stayed in the valleys to keep speed up
time 576 secs
there was an av21 already parked there, so I can only guess it was a jedi with a av21 that got the record today, cuz 130 secs is waaaay too much time difference
2 others were right in my time frame too that were there

Hmm, makes me think of how the Kessel Run could either be slick or screwy if it's ever introduced.

After reading some of the old role-playing manuals, I thought that the Kessel Run wasn't so much a race as it was a hidden Smuggling Lane path between planets (one of which being Kessel) in space that went through asteroid fields, and other dangerous areas that were populated with Imperial Interdictor type ships (to close down that Smuggling lane).
The idea that you could get through that channel very fast was where the bragging rights (and the error in using parsecs as a measurement of time instead of distance) came from.
At least that was my impression of it, anyway.

Speaking of, I hope the Imperial crackdown in JTL includes getting caught by Interdictor Cruisers, OH GOOD LORD that would be sweet!

100% right as far as I know too, X'an. And it'd seem that the fact that speed of accomplishment plays a part in that would lend it a race aspect also. The shorter the distance accomplished (least number of "parsecs") might, in RP terms, attract more work to a Smuggler/Pilot.
But who knows what it would translate into game terms,
if it's ever even included. My main reason for even mentioning it is because I really want it in, LOL!

I'm with you there bro'! GAWD, I want to smuggle! Items or people. My dream is to smuggle wanted beings throughout the galaxy. It's just so cool.
Damn! Hear those screeching wheels, y'all? It's the sound of another "Thread Train" derailing! Sorry for my part.

As Seret is always quick to point out... Ekade is a full supporter of thread derailment.
(now only if Seret was as prompt with his in-game RP with Ekade.. *cough* *cough*)

I'll have you know I'm just as bad with thread derailment, but I'm one of the people who run this site so nah nah neh nah nah.
And yes, it shames me I have yet to find the elusive Ekade in-game at a reasonible time. Every time I get on its too late. When I send Ekade a message on her comm her replies are always "Yes, I wish we could of met up sooner......
keer stop that it tickles.....but we shall meet soon....
no put on the black mask it hurts more..... so I will see you then."

Speaking of derailment... I was running some custom queries on the database yesterday and I have determined that I am the #1 f-bomber on the board..
I can't f*$%en believe it! Yay me!

I think I'm the #1 Ekade Teaser in the forum. What do I win?
And to get back on subject....
I just have to add that I will not bother with ANY of the racetracks until there is more of a challenge to it. If being a jedi with a AV-21 guarantees you'll have the best time then it seems pointless to me.
For races to be fun they need variable speed vehicles with different steering ratios and vehicle damage. This would all be determined by the quality in which the Artisan makes the vehicle. So basically they need to take Gran Turismo and just shove it right into the game. (Not that its easy).

I always thought they should offer customizable pods for pod racing in the game and make a lineage of professions off of that. Probably abother expansion though....

Actually, I seem to recall reading somewhere on the galaxy site some time ago that they were planing on doing something with making the speeders more variable in speed, handling and such. As for the kessle run, guess were I'll be camping to layeth the imperial smacketh down?
