This is a damn funny one...
Last night, I go to log at about 2am...after getting a very sweet 400k carbine XP and 150k scout XP and decide to check the SOE boards for news of a patch for today. I stumble on a dev post for patches to test center and decide to take a look. Well the first response to it is a "Roll back the CURB and go back to the way it was" post that really irritated me, because it had no supporting information and was really just a mindless "I'm not uber anymore because I refuse to adjust to the new system, so I want it my way" post. So, since I LOVE, and I do mean LOVE the CURB, I decide that I haven't been banned from the SOE boards in a while and am due. So I blast this idiot...and not just a short and sweet one, I really let him have it (I would have given him some slack if he was a jedi that said, "hey, I'm getting screwed on the visability and you need to change it", but he didn't). I had about a whopper of a post...probably a page in Word being a complete ass...mainly because it was late, I was tired, and he urked me.
Well, within minutes, I get an e-mail from an SOE moderator that basically said, "Thank you for your support of the SWG Dev team and the CURB, but you broke these 7 forum rules with your post, so we're deleting it and banning you from posting for a week. Sorry, but we have to be fair."
It just struck me as funny. They can't really defend themselves and then when someone defends them, they have to mod it because of their forum rules. I don't mind the ban. It's been over a week since I posted there anyway, so no loss. It just really makes me sad that they idiot voices on the SOE boards are the only ones that get any floor time. I probably should have posted a kinder, more gentle support of the CURB post, but I didn't feel like it at the time.
If anyone has a few minutes today that is really enjoying the CURB like I am, I think it'd be a great thing to start a thread supporting the CURB and ignoring anyone who posts in it about how it sucks.
LONG LIVE THE CURB!!!
Banned from the SOE boards for DEFENDING the CURB...
Zannon, ...I'm with you there in mind and spirit...but I'm done wasting my time on evangelizing for the CURB. No matter how much you might like it, and believe me after alot of blasting of SOE's actions, I LOVE THIS HERE CURB.
But last night, after a culmination of 2 days of marathon testing of my template...without a concern for any type of XP, Loot, or mission payout...my mind is made up and my support of the CURB is validated. Matter of fact I even considered the idea after I logged out of play last night to post saying as much. "No more 'this is why I love the CURB'", etc. and so forth.
As far as putting down less objective opinions on the SOE Forums...man, you might as well be in Congress trying to kill soft money. Plus, you never know just how old/mature a poster is there.
By all means, you all know how mad I can get about what I see as unfairness, but I'm done. One of my last words last night to a player in-game that didn't support the system was, "...nevermind, I'm just gonna play my game." It just doesn't pay to work out wrinkles toward this uprgrade. Not for me anymore, at least.
There are a few things that I've "heard" about that disturbed me from a balance standpoint that I thought were odd, but then it's second hand reporting. I would really love to test out ever prof in the game to see for myself, but that ain't happenning in my reality.
If this thing works out for the most part and the upgrade gets refined, I can see more development time available to SOE to do so many other things for the game. Just think, because SWG was a premature baby released from Beta way too soon, *at least* 50% of the focus of Dev energy has been fixing individual profs and Combat in general. If the CURB gets stronger on it's own feet, then the Devs will be left to just maintain it and *should* be able to allocate more "dream power" to content. I still don't trust SOE much, but I'm just going to play it straight from my end.
I'm testing and bug/critique reporting for my part to help all that out. Most of everything else, I'm tuning out.

I love the curb they just need to fix bh's critical shot cause the higher end version does the exact same damage as the low one. Unless they've fixed it already. Besides that i wouldn't go back to the old system for anything. I'm having a blast and I have a template I love.

I like the CU for the most part. I am annoyed with poofing missions and other misc bugs that I think they might be fixing today since Gorath just went down.
My only major disappointment is that I am still look for these steel hands that I am supposed to have. I have become really active in the Teras kasi profession forum regarding this. I also feel bad for the commandos out there who have no specials at all.
Hopefully they plan on fixing these things, if they don't I will still be happy for now. But I can see it getting old again after a while.

I do think positive voices need to speak up a lot more than they do in the SOE forums. On rare occasions you will see someone say something positive and the silent majority will come out of the woodwork and nod in agreement. I love threads like that.
So, don't hold back. If you have a positive comment, share it here and on the SOE forums. I'm not not saying that people should evangelize. Just don't hold back.
Positive emotion should be used as a motivator to post just as much, if not more so, than negative emotion.

They lost all their specials, but their weapons no longer have limited uses, and the weapons themselves have special properties. For example: The rocket launcher has a chance to knock a target down on every shot. (But the failed to KD spam is really annoying). The acid stream launcher can blind multiple targets at once. With a second combat prof, cammando can be very nice indeed. (Such as my master BH with master commando).

I dislike the Curb in some places, and like it in other places. I ended up giving up Doc for CM. Docs can no longer heal as good as they could, and it seems combat medics do a much better job at keeping a group alive, thanks to their area heals. I can also keep myself alive one on one, although that is a bit harder. I also enjoy the diseases with CM. The only thing I dislike is that the bugs are EVERYWHERE...
