Coming Clean...

I just want everyone to know that I am a bad at typing. I never learned how to do it right and still use 2-3 fingers on each hand to type. I make lots of spelling errors when I type and because I use FireFox I still don't have a spelling checker in my browser.

I don't hate people that spell bad and I really don't care about misspellings in posts. I do wish that at least the subject line and 7/10 words could be correct in spelling. Other than that I am pretty laid back about it.

I feel the need to come clean on this. I misspell all the time - on this forum and in game (IC or not). So if I have given everyone the impression that I am a spelling nazi, its not the real deal. I do encourage users of Internet Explorer to use the Google toolbar spell checker. At work, when I use IE, I use it. This post will be spell checked when I am done. It still is not a 100% guarantee that this post will be anything good grammatically or that even the right version of the spelling will be used.

All I ask is that people try. And yes, I am a typo king by my own right. I even put "j-s-u-t" to be automatically be replaced with "just" in the bulletin board word filter because I type it wrong EVERY time.

Jabe

edits to say: j-s-u-t :)

I assume you mean j-s-u-t? Because if you just throw it down as "just" it probably is corrected to just.

Edited to say that yeah, it did auto-correct it.

Finally someone who types slower than I do. I thought it was only me. I'm with you Jabe. I see my biggest limitation in being a better roleplayer is my typing speed.

I can *always* think of something In Character for Keer to say in just about any situation...but typing it out promptly? That's a whole other fantasy game

/right their with you bro.

I also never learned to type correctly, however I do know where the keys are and rarely have to look down at the keyboard anymore, the pinkies get no action whilst typing. :)

And it's only when I am actually typing something out pretty quickly that I can continue to type continuously keep myself from screwing up all the time.

I use IE-Spell, for forum spelling. But only use it when I am typing a hugely long story, or some important information or I know I spelled a word or two incorrectly. http://www.iespell.com (I use a modified version of IE, http://maxthon.com, I highly recommend the browser to those of you who stray away from firefox, using IE on it's own is like suicide.)

I learned how to type in Jr. High, and took a typing class in High School for an easy A. I can type now in the 90wpm range (with one or few errors) and could have probably had a long carreer as a secreta--administrative assistant.

The only thing that slows me down is if there are numbers or crazy-assed umlauts. Numbers I have to look for, and I have no idea what keystrokes to use to get the accents.

Oh, I also got good grades in spelling.

Just thought I'd rub it in ;D ;p

Hey what can ya do. 99% of us mispell when we type but almost that same smount will lose focus when reading something with frequent misspellings. You can't help it, its just nature's double-standard.

I don't think anyone has ever been publically ridiculed for being a terrible speller (except when Zannon mispelled Scum in Scum & Villiany Night - yeah its STILL funny). Everyone just keeps those snickers private. No harm no foul.
