I actually completed the entire quest before this got put up and let me tell you, the rewards are worth it. Ther are 5 or 6 parts, ending with 3 weapons and a lot of credits to you. Anybody that has seen me running around lately knows what one of the weapons is.

Is there any rewards worth it for melee players? A carb would be useless to me.

I believe it works like this...
after you give the needler to fett, he gives it back to you to keep and gives you the mission to the warren. When you come back from that whole thingie, you get to pick 1. The DC 15 Carbine is pretty sub-par compared to the other carbs out there, but the rifle is more useful. Damage in the mid 900's but has an action cost of about 10 less than the lower cost rifles out there.
I hear its a pretty good pickup for the riflemen.

here's a little tip, after accessing the computer in the warren, usually the hurtons start attacking
let them attack, cuz then they wont attack the scientist and kill him
drag them outside, and guess what? the scientist follows anyway, without aggroing anything
finish off the hurtons, the droids they spawn never did, talk to the scientist
he says escort him outside the warren, guess what? walk 10m and you're done with that part! talk to him again then go get your gun

If it were only that simple for me. It dragged him 1k from the warren and he never did talk even after the droids. He just said "yeah I think so"

That rifle looks like it should have a tripod on it. And a zipcode.
The pistol would be a good RP item for concealment like the window notes say. Need to work on the damage though.

The quest, along with the whole server was pretty buggy last night.
Instead of the scientist following you out when you agree to help him he just stayed there. So I left the warren, came back in and killed a rogue droid and he was still standing in the same spot. When I spoke to him again it made it sound like I had just escorted him out and it completed the mission.
I don't know if this was a quest bug or server bug though. What I do know was when I returned to the Mining Outpost to retrieve the datapad from the back of the cantina I had one small problem. I could not enter the cantina nor the starport like everyone else.
Now that's frustration with a capital F and that stands for $#%&!

yeah, the whole warren part of the quest was littered with weird bugginess, but it can all be managed pretty handily.
DON'T talk to the scientist before you access the computer. For some reason, that triggers the scientists aggressive behavior and he will agg on the huurtons and get his nuts stomped. If you access the terminal first, one of the bajillion scientists that spawn there will follow you out.
Just run up and out of the warren and kill the tailing huurtons. Then talk to him blah blah blah...as soon as you make a step towards anything, the droids should spawn. Kill em, talk to him again, and take off. Ignore the spam that says you are too far away from your escort, but DO make sure he gives you the password for the box before you leave him.

Considering that the rifle does more damage and you dont even have to be a RM (just a CR of 54) to use it the rifle is a must have. I'll probably start the quest tomorrow

The rifle is pretty good, but it's not the best out there. There are a lot of T-21's out there with higher Damage and faster speeds...the only real boon for the DC 15 is the special action costs. It is like 94 or something...around 10 lower than most of the other rifles. It can help with your HAM management a little better while still dealing a good amount of damage.
But I have yet to see the carbine. I hear it is only so-so as far as carbines go, but the fact that no one is going after it makes it quite rare.
Most likely they will end up as house decorations.
