BH Spactial

I was talking with my fellow guildmates in the TTF and a couple BH members where on the trail of a jedi who was bouncing in and out of Tat. I was bouncing back and forth there myself doing the Fett Quest and was keeping my eyes out for the jedi when I had a possibly brilliant idea.

I want to try to create a spactial where fellow BH can go to announce or check on any jedi sightings. Say your just bouncing into Coronet to check out the cantina and you see some jedi knight chillin at the star port. You click over to the spactial and simply say that jedi knight so and so is in coronet in the starport at 3pm PST. Or say you've just picked up a mission on some jedi padawan and you've just goten the bio sig. You click over to the spactial and scroll up a little to see if any one see the jedi close to your current time.

For incharacter purposes we BH can simply call this the hot tip holonet page of the Bounty Hunters Guild. It's not 100% accuarate but it would give us one more tool and will encourage jedi to keep their force sensitivity secret.

I'd like to keep the title of the spactial as secret as posible for as long as those involved can. I've thought of a few ways to do this but I'm still open to suggestions. One idea is to start with people who I know to be BH and that if a BH wants the spactial name they have to meet with one of us in-game with their BH tag on. the down fall is that it really slows the growth of the network. I also thought about charging for the spactial name but that wouldn't really do anything to keep it secret.

So what do you guys think and what could be done to keep the name underwraps for as long as posible.

Interesting idea. I'd give it about a month before some Jedi caught on. Still, it would be a useful tool. I know I'd be more than willing to relate my information on jedi seen. The Empire IS trying to be rid of these accursed relics from a time best left forgoten after all.

But doesn't that sound like the point? We want them to have to hide from the BHs, to lay low, like a Jedi would in this time period...

I only want to try to keep the name secret as long as I can. I do want them to know it exsist. The reason why I would want the name secret is to keep them from checking it themselves and having friends use it to try to set up ambushes for my fellow bounty hunters. I also realize we'll only be able to keep it secret for a month max but it will give us time to work out any unforseeable bugs.

Are you talking about a chat tab? Cuz I have no clue what a spactial is. If you're saying "spatial" that's text appearing in chat bubbles - by definition visible 'in space' - not very secret.

As for creating a chat tab, that would be pretty cool even after the Jedi discovered its presence. Keep em in check.

Interesting idea, but I don't know how viable it would really be. There are a LOT of Jedi with BH alts so I don't think it would take long for one of them to get into the chat and then have it up on one comp while they play their jedi on another and warn people of impending attacks.

I know that's what I'd do if I were them.

I'd kick this around with Novall and Hashum in regards to their BH system. It could become a part of it or a suppliment to it.

As for Jedi catching on I think thats a very good thing. Sure you don't want to invite them to it but eventually they will find out and start checking it often. If I was a Jedi I would find it fun to go to a planet and have to check the local channels to see what the BH activity is like, then move on if its too heavy. This could be fun for the BHs AND the Jedi so call it a win/win situation.

Not to mention you could have some fun knowing Jedi are listening. You could post false reports and give false info to throw them off. Things like "Ok Bestine area is all clear, lets group up and check out Eisley." BHs gotta be a little sneaky once and a while.

Mr Doo I do mean a chat tab thx for seting me straight on termanology. The more and more I think of this the more and more fun it seems it will be I'm gona talk with Novall and Hashum about implimentation in the BH system here and I think I've desided on a name for the Chat tab. I'm gona start inviting people to it but I'm gona open a poll with this thread on wheather I should just blert it out here an on Goraths boards on SOE's sight. The poll will end Friday and I'll post one way or another Monday.

I am not sure where you are going with this poll.

I like the idea of having an informal chat tab devoted to keeping tabs on jeeeedi. If and when Jedi start getting "found" more easily, it would would probably force some kind of change in their behavior. Changing their skill title's, not running around with their gd light saber's or robes equipped, what have you.

Should you announce it to the entire server? Absolutely not. Does it need to be a government secret? Probably not.

Don't announce it, for that will give everyone a heads up. Try it out first, see how it works.

But if someone asks about it don't try and cover it up. Tell it to em straight.

I guess my point is don't attract attention to it, but don't divert attention from it, either. Just go with it.

I thought you could make invite only chat channels...can you not do that?

If you can't, then nevermind everything I just said. Keep that thing secret. But I thought there were private chat channels.

Honestly, you really want this to work Jerrel?

You've got to network it and keep it changing. Essentially, you start out with a group of say 10 BHs that will share this channel. As you add more BHs to the list you also 'switch' the channel every couple of weeks. Letting the 'ghost' channel stay up for about a week during the switch. This 'might' allow you to actually weed out those that are using the system to protect their Jedi alts. It'd take work though.

Good imput. I have, however, just anounced it's exsistence will come into being tomorrow but that anyone who wants in on it has to send me a mail then I will set up an in-game meeting with some one who I trust (like fellow guild mate BH or some of the BH here) to confirm that they have the BH tag then give them the name of the tab. I like the idea of having the name change every so often. Perhaspe I should give it a set name followed by 4 random numbers in the name and change those numbers every so often.

Oh and I have no idea if I can make a private chat tab. I havn't really mess with creating new chat tabs to know.
