well not my primary drive, but my older slave drive

in fact I can hear it spool up and then "clunk" it stops and repeats the process over and over until I get a system fail message, and I'd have to reboot. So i just unplugged it, and the comp will run fine, but there is some stuff on there I'd like back (not that I can remember what's on there atm)

So techies, is there any way to recover this info?

There are a ton of free Ghost progs on the net that will allow you to send all the info in the same format ect from one drive to another without any data loss (unless you screw up).

Hop on Downloads.com and look up Ghost and see what you find.

Novall, wouldn't that only work if the drive at least works or is accessible? From what Skor describes, it sounds like it's physically failing, and is unreadable...?

Skor, I was going to suggest that if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars sending it off to a "drive saving" company, then just get out a screwdriver and take it apart and see if you can find the failed part/arm or whatever and replace it.

yeah the drive has failed...it didn't have that much info onit, but it was holding all my fraps video clips...but those can be replaced...I had to hit staples today anyway, and there they had matrox 7200rpm 60gb drive for $45, so I'm going to install it tomorrow or wed
