Another great Asimov story that was ruined

I haven't read Madox's review yet (haven't seen the movie yet, either), but keep in mind folks that this was never intended to be an Asimov story.

I've listened to some interviews regarding the movie, and this was an "original" story that decided to attempt to incorporate Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics as the primary theme. That was the only correlation between Asimov and the script, or at least that's what the movie's creators are trying to say about it.

Then, the rights to the book I, Robot became available, and the producers optioned it so they could use the catchy title.

So there was never any real intention for this to be any sort of an adaptation of an Asimov book.

That said, I'm not excusing it if it's a horrible movie.

It's a turd.

Kinda funny, USR = US Robotics which is a real life modem company based in Chicago named their company in homage to the Asimov book. Now they're in a movie and no doubt getting plugged in one way or another.

Oh. Didn't know that. Maybe it would have been a better movie if they intented it to be an adaptation of one of his stories then

I like Maddox's review of Signs because I felt the exact same way. Some of his other stuff isn't all that great to me, but he does hit the nail on the head sometimes.

Does anyone remember when a US Robotics 28.8 modem was over $100?

He's finally said what I've been saying since I've seen signs.

Movie premise: Aliens attempt to take over a planet in the nude. Oh and their one deadly weakness is water. Very smart of their advanced civilization to attack a planet that is mostly water. I guess since every house has a hose and a sink you could say from their perspective every house on earth has weapons of mass destruction. Smart aliens.
