Do you remember you mother, your REAL mother?

I have a consistency gripe here...

In ROTJ, Leia tells Luke that she does remeber her real mother. "She died when I was very young..".

Now.. the "explanation" that I have been hearing is that maybe Leia THOUGHT her adopted mother was her real mother.. but if that is the case it sort of cheapens the scene in ROTJ for me.

I liked it better the other way.. just like I liked it better when the Force was a mystical enregy field.. not midichlorians. :???:

Side note.. It was good to see some twilek females in the flick. Sisters REPRESENT! Damn that order 66! Clones taking out the jedi one. She did not even get a chance to break out the twirling lekku of death.

Seems like all the non-main-char Jedi were red-shirts in this movie.

The red-shirt feel did kill it for me as well. Some Jedi went what felt like way too easily. But, I think the idea of betrayal was suppose to be a surprise that even a Jedi wasn't ready for even though the hint that, "our clones are fiercely loyal." was overlooked even by the Jedi.

On the consistancy gripe, I agree. However, I am leaning toward the deep impact as being this...

She 'does' think her Alderaanian adopted mother is her real mother at the time of that conversation. And it isn't till 'after' Luke explains that their brother and sister that they both understand. Perhaps one of those things where they'd both figure out the whole truth if there were more film time for it. The prequels are the missing part for the audiance as it were. The characters remain a little clueless to the fact... and I think that's suppose to be part of the tragedy of it; That nither of them get to know their real parents that well.

Agree on the continuity thing. Same for the scene on Endor. But as they go it's a small one in comparison to some other things.

For example, unless there's some attention to it later, we'll have to rely on the EU to tell us how Boba Fett learned the bounty trade. Not that I hate EU, but I just wish they'd made Boba of a long lived race and not even had a Jango. It'd be easier to to see how great a bounty hunter he'd be if he'd been practicing since Anakin was in diapers.

very simple my friend...it is but a click away...right from the source

After Jango's death, Boba picked up the pieces of his shattered life with the help of his "black book," an encoded message unit written by Jango with instructions for survival should Boba ever find himself alone. After the Battle of Geonosis, Boba quietly buried his father's body and marked the grave with a simple "J.F." He sought out his father's benefactor, Darth Tyranus, who had the remainder of Jango's stipend.

Among the first records of Fett's activities were during the early years of the Empire. Fett was hired by the gangster Sise Fromm to dispose of young speeder pilot Thall Joben and his friends. Though the Fromms were enemies of the Jabba the Hutt -- Fett's sometime employer -- the hunter took the contract to square off a favor he owed Fromm.

[ Fett, Boba ] At the time, Fett owned a droid named BL-17, and used him to sew confusion among Joben's droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO. Unaware of a bomb planted on Joben's speeder, the White Witch, Fett entered his modified racer Silver Speeder in the Boonta speeder competition. During his attempt to capture Joben with a magnetic beam, Fett pulled the bomb onto his own speeder, and it was destroyed. Angered at the loss of his speeder and droid, Fett captured the Fromms to turn them over to Jabba the Hutt.

As a licensed law enforcer of the Empire, Fett worked for that oppressive government on numerous occasions. One report had him allowing Rebel agents to capture a mystical talisman infected with an Imperial sleeping virus, though records of this event remain classified and cannot be confirmed. Another report details that Fett was hired by Darth Vader to track down a Rebel agent known as "Mole" on the frozen world of Ota.

Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, a group of Jabba the Hutt's bounty hunters captured Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca in the Hoth system. These hunters were to deliver the Rebel trio to Ord Mantell, where Boba Fett was to take possession and continue the delivery to the Empire. One of the hunters, an arrogant tracker named Skorr, botched the operation and let the Rebels escape. Skorr was killed in the process and Fett was left empty-handed.
good thing the Skorr isn't my name! :D

That source there. There are 3 tabs on the header of it. "The Movies", "Expanded Universe" and "Behind the Scenes".

Your source is EU as I mentioned above.

If you simply click here:

From "The Movies", you'll see there's no mention of Boba's life between Jango's death and his appearance after the Battle of Hoth.

After first hearing what Leia said about her "real" mother in ROTJ my imagination was captured. Since then I had this mental image of a young mother with a small child in exile some where, saddened by the fact her lover had turned to evil, and that her son was "somewhere else". This had always been a very touching scene for me.. even if it existed solely in my imagination.

GL really needs to check with me before stomping all over my memories.

Actually.....

Jango left behind a "black book" for Boba. It contained not only teachings for becoming a Bounty Hunter, but also the teachings of being a Mandalorian. Since Jango was the last Mandalor of the SuperCommandos, it would only seem right that he would hand this down to his son as was done throughout mandalorian tradition.

Dooku also had a hand in helping Boba get on his feet after his father's death. Infact I believe it was Dooku who actually looked after him for a short few years before he lit out on his own in his fathers ship.

This is all EU stuff btw :)

But what I haven't heard yet (unless the link covered this; I didn't have time to check it) is this:

If Boba got Jango's hand-me-down Mandalorian, why is Boba's green and Jango's blue?

And I don't want any frickin' "Armor Repaint Kit" answers.

Easy, the midichlorians did it! Just like they tricked Leia into thinking she remembered her REAL mother.. just like they tricked us into thinking Han shot first so long ago.

There is MUCH more going on here than we were led to believe people!

this whole thing can be explained...

BAD WRITING!
George Lucas can't even keep his own story straight. Oh, and he fires anyone who tells him he is making mistakes. He would probably drop them into a Rancor pit.
