Cleaning up the Roba

Post Reply
Ok let's get right to business...i took a short break from the game (mid december till the CURB hit beta) during this time people have told me that they feel the roba has lost its edge. I am going to fix it back to how i remembered it, whether this is what people are talking about I do not know...but...it made it popular in the first place...right?

RULES:

1) TTF has full control of the building. This is for both IC and OOC purposes. We have final...and only say on any decisions related to it. Suggestions can be made of course, but we make the calls. Period.

2) Good rp will be monitored and enforced to the best of our ability...much like real police we can't be everywhere, with that many conversations going on its hard to watch everything and still enjoy it ourselves. If you see someone acting poorly notify one of the trade-sec members or ttf officers there privately and we will monitor the situation.

3) If someone talks excessively ooc (more than a phrase or two) with an ooc marker of some type, for example "((afk))" or "OOC: afk", they will be politely asked to remain in character. If they continue they will be warned, if they continue again they will be removed from the building.

4) Excessive profanity or sexual content will not be tolerated. This is SW, the universe has some very adult themes, this is fine...but let's leave the cyber in the private channels and such. Flirting is fine, my own character is a major flirt...but when it gets beyond PG-13 or LIGHT "R" rating, its going too far. Adult themes can be discussed without making it a porn film. You cna make it very clear you are all over each other without telling me exactly where that lekku is probing.

5) RP in the roba is meant to be freeform...of course people cna have their own plots building that's kinda the point...a place to start plots, a meeting point, etc....try to leave the scene stealing, cantina clearing, evening ending stuff for every once in awhile...an explosive firefight is cool once a month....every week it begins to get old. Be considerate of those who want to do something other than your plot.

6) I will now give an example of a VERY common rp flaw that will not be tolerated. If you go to attack someone....you will /duel them, they will /duel you...if either of you have friends you will ALL /duel each other before fighting begins.....if someone has 4 guards with them, you don't just duel the guy you are after and refuse to duel the guards too...people who do this will be warned, and then banned if ignored. Along these same lines are what ttf have defined as bad rp: using /emote to be king of the world. If someone punches you...and you do /emote catches their arm easily, laughing...that's kinda lame....agreed this works both way....generall send some /tells to each other ahead of time if you are gonna have some /emote interactions of this nature....its easy to annoy or even ruin another persons rp with a simple emote. In general don't do something witha /emote that would assert your dominance of a person...IE using an emote to better them in combat or in agility (/emote does 50 backflips without spilling his drink, for example, is a dumb emote) The bad emotes will follow the bad RP guideline of polite request->warning->ban

7) We encourage the highest level of realism in our rp environments...this means if you do find yourself ina fighting situation please don't back down because you don't feel like pvp...understand when you arrive that its a "real" situation....and if someone for some reason wants to draw their blaster....you couldn't just say "sorry mugger, i don't wish to be mugged today" we understand you don't always feel like pvp but try to respect the realism of the environment. That being said...leads me to 8

8) Trade-sec is the IC protector of the roba, the police force. If someone is fighting someone they will step in....it will take SOME time to accomplish this goal, so we will give a grace period...but i am writing a macro that will in the touch of a button autoduel every trade-sec member....we expect if you enter combat and guards go to attack you, this button be used for everyone's sake...if you have to stop to /duel everyone...you can't focus on fighting so it hampers you...however the guards aren't gonna stand there while you kill someone for 5 minutes...now a shot or 2 incap we could see...so fast it wouldn't leave time for reaction...but in general this will help maintain a level of control in the roba that will stop it from being a seedy place, and back to the protected refined classy place it was.

9) Another ideal i am considering...to reinforce the ultra realism level...is to have EVERYONE who enters the roba...duel everyone else...not sure if the same cna handle this...that way shots can come out of nowhere...and truly be offguard....obviously a /duel request let's you OOC know "ok i need to prep" and people will eat food, spice, etc....i for one would love to be TRULY surprised when Dwilah puts a blaster into my ribs" I am toying with this idea because i'm afraid it will draw a bad crowd (but that would be remedied through banning of non rpers) but also that it might scare off people who truly have zero combat skills (some of the band, crafters, etc)

10) Most people from swgtales have never been in TTF. Somehow our rp groups just never mingled until the roba got going, and then this site. Possibly because we started and stayed on talus...whereas other groups chose tatooine and lok. But the ultimate goal is to create the roba as an immersive, realistic, amazing rp experience for ALL to enjoy. However, if we are going to be responsible for the reputation of the roba, we are applying our guilds rp rules to it....as Jabe will back me up...i am this harsh with my own members and do not tolerate OOC in inappropriate situations....we have survived this long without dropping our RP requirements and will continue to do so.

11) Since i'm IC returning to viceroy soon, i won't be bartending...we would like a REGULAR, TALENTED, bartender....not to toot my own horn as many think i do so often, but i received a ton of /tells when i bartend saying how good of a job i was doing and how it made coming to the bar and getting a drink a fun experience...that is what i want out of a bartender.....i am willing to "train" anyone who can be there...its easy stuff...a lot of macros make it simple...you just need some creativity, some dedication, and the will to do it.

12) Kyle Rayner pwns Hal Jordan, don't care what anyone says

OK...I have a question for ya that comes from every experience I've had with a lot of the current TTF members:

Will they be RPing something other than a bunch of sociopaths and serial killers?

Other than you 'Zo, pretty much every TTF person I've had contact with as Zannon or as one of my alts has at some point e-moted punching me in the face and then challenged me to a duel. Just last week, Dwilah and I ran some little RP missions from S&V using our alts. All the missions went well, except for the one that the TTF member ran. When he got there Oeree and I were just finishing up...your guy completed the mission, started walking away and then came back to punch me in the face and then challenged me to a duel for no reason (unless paying him 15k to bring me a backpack of supplies is a reason). When I wouldn't accept, he challenged Oeree to a duel and lost. Oeree didn't DB him out of respect and as soon as the TTF guy got up, he went back to challenging me and Oeree to a duel again. Oeree lost this time, and...wouldn't ya know it? The TTF guy DB's him...then goes back to challenging me. That little exchange is pretty much how about 20 exchanges I've had with TTF have played out...and that's pretty poor RP in my opinion.

please tell me the name of this member...

toront is this way? Malchiah is this way? please do not generalize....i was gone i cannot vouche for everyone's actions while i was gone...but i can't fix it if you don't give me a name

and also...we are a very large guild...we can't watch every member...contrary to the thoughts of most people on this forum we are not elitist and allow anyone who claims they have an interest in rp into the guild. Now if no one tells us they are screwing around, how cna we know if they behave in front of us?

You say this as if its beena long term problem, yet you've never made mention of this before....

by the way, i think you person you are referring to is Loque...not in our guild now if you'll notice...he was a non rper who stumbled onto the roba by chance when he had toront's mission one night...he asked "wtf is going on" and toront explained to him it was an rp event, he loved the idea, and wanted to be bartender....so he's new to rp...maybe he doens't get it...but without anyone informing us of his actions how could we fix it? but regardless, he's a kreetle now (KRETL)

we are also looking for young musicians to form a new 4-5 piece band for the roba nights. The kreetles have moved on to pursue other career interests and we at ttf wish them well.

Auditions will be all this week, personality and unique luster are a plus.

Email Alonzo, Toront, or Malchiah or details, times, or applications.

Ohhh. Carlito...I remember you, man. :D

Glad to see this attention to the Roba. I really don't know why it happenned, I just know that the tone of the place went another direction at some point.

As for the Talusian Trade Federation <TTF>, perhaps I'm lucky in that the negatives that I have heard about some members come second-hand. All of my direct contacts have been positive and even inspiring sometimes. And to name names in a positive light, I'd like to mention these TTF members:

Old'man Jeffrey: give this guy kudos next time you see him. 2-3 months ago when recruiting for pilot missions, Keer met him and had a long spontaneous scene that led to gaining good pilot tips on my part. Old'man represented TTF Role Play well.

An'ma/Leilana: next time you see her give her the same recognition...and tell her that Keer needs his wardrobe finished! She may be taking a break, but in our several meetings An'ma (and her alt, Leilana) was a very eager and mature Role Player.

With Old'man and An'ma, Keer did most of the listening and reacting instead of acting. I was happy to meet them both.

And I shouldn't forget Malchiah Atotre who's been a consistent good contact for Keer for almost a year now. I hope the conduct of people like the last 3 that I've mentioned becomes contagious within TTF.

As I said previously, due to outside obligations, I probably won't see a Friday Night at the Roba anytime soon (last week of June at the earliest). But it'll be good to hear, even second hand, that things have turned the corner.

Best Regards. I'll be rooting for you all!

I wish you the best of luck. I for one could never hope to have the time and patience to enforce such an extensive set of rules. I really hope these work for you. Remember not all of your attendants read this forum so I hope you have some sort of in-game notice somewhere.

But I'd work on that Rule #12. I just looked it up it up on the bullshit list and sure enough it was right there shining at #2 right below Guy Gardener as the best GL. It was marked by that ridiculous mask Kyle wears.

Wow. I can just imagine how these rules would play out in RL..

"Well, yes you have to stop at that light, but only if it's Tuesday. Oh wait...if it's a full moon you can go. Remember if it's July you have to get out of the car do the hokey pokey and get back in before you're allowed go through the light. "

For Christ's sake, it's just a game. Having been detached from the game for a bit, I can say without a doubt this entire conversation sounds retarded to the casual observer. Now most people know I'm a convert to WOW..I'm not advocating that everyone jump over there, just a simple observation. When the game gets this serious it's time to :

A. Quit the event.
B. Quit the game.
C. Lighten up.

If most people put this level of details into their jobs/relationships I think they'd be in a better place.

Lighten up, smoke em if you got em and grab some beers. =)

Don't see where these are so wacky...there's no "if this then this" its pretty direct. Realistic good rp practices will be enforced. Simple as that

OK, first off, let me appologize to TTF for my earlier comments, they were unfair and 100% biased based on a few bad experiences I've had with some of the past members. Admittedly, I forgot about the great interactions I've had at S&V and the Casino with other TTF folk (especially Malchiah and Toront). I'm sorry about labeling everyone in TTF and putting a bad spin on this post.

Anyway, let's get this thread back where it belongs...talking about the issue at hand:

Personally, I like Alonzo's ideas and rules...every RP event has their own set of rules, some are clearly posted, others are implied, but they do all have rules. The Casino has the luxury of remaining fairly small and with a very specific crowd and tends to not attract the casual non-RP griefer/PVPer...probably because Nocturnus is not a pro-PVP city. The Roba, on the other hand, always attracts a good number of new people and new people thrown into a mix like that can always cause problems for an event planner. Posted rules and strict enforcement seems almost like a must for the Roba.

I know in the past I've shyed away from the Roba for a lot of reasons, but I do still use it as a place to set up RP plots and to suck people in to story arcs that I'm planning. With a little more enforcement of good RP there, I think I'd like to do a lot more there.

I'm behind Alonzo on this one, I'd like to see the Roba go back to being the RP event it was when I went there the first time.

Just a little bump for those planning on attending tonight. As far as I know all of these rules go into effect tonight except for the couple that he was merely considering

Thank you, come again.
