Bringing Jabba to Life

In another thread the idea sprang up to being Jabba to life.

Initial ideas:

Someone, or a few someones, roleplay Jabba's actions in the galaxy. These include, but are not limited to bounties, extortion, smuggling, assassinations, and all sort of criminal activity.

"Jabba" can interact (more like interfere) with some of the organizations we currently have. Mercs, Nocturnus crew, Bounty Hunters.

Jabba's permanent henchmen can form a guild. There can be an opposing faction, like Valarian, in another guild. They may go to war from time to time.

Jabba can be manifested in the form of a "face character" who hires people and makes deals, etc. Or, he can be an "entity" who just sends out emails, etc.

Please share your thoughts.

I like the idea through and through. Everyone would like to see Jabba come to life. All of the above mentioned ideas are good but here's a few notes from your friendly neighborhood Twi'lek...

- If someone is going to "bring Jabba to life" it should be limited to one or two people at most and always. Too many people will lead to inconsistancies and lack of depth. You want Jabba to remeber each person that have done him personal favors for the next time they meet him. So bascially I suggest a "Dedicated Jabba."

- If anyone goes through with the guilds they should have territories. Jabba's people should hang around wayfar and the palace while Valarians people hang around Eisley. This may be a lot to ask anyone to commit to but if you want to immerse yourself in this side of the world then it would be fun.

- Dancers should avoid working for Jabba.... just a tip.

Like I said, I like the idea, but I just want to keep the discussion going further.

Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I for one am tired of all the Rebel/Impness in this game and would really appreciate some storylines that go in a different (non GCW) kind of direction.

Excellent idea. GCW is old and in my opinion a dead horse for now. ITs always been a personal hope of mine that they would open the Hutt faction for members. Oh well... :(

I'd love to play jabba if he wasn't so damn ugly.

I think the fact that Jabba will not be impersonated directly but just through orders delivered and given by his underlings will make it possible that more than just one or two people can interact in his name.

I would assume that he just gives orders to his highest ranking henchmen, like Bib, and other ones that can be roleplayed by us and leaves the more detailed parts of missions, like who is hired to carry them out and so on, to his henchmen. In this way people would not necessarily be in direct contact to Jabba, maybe not even well known by him but just have a good standing with his underlings and thus gain more influence at the court.

This would also leave some room for intrigue at the court and between the roleplayed henchmen, like personal agendas, missions against other servants of Jabba to lower their standig at the court.

But some sort of control behind the scenes and a overall plot for Jabba would still be needed.

I think it could be a great concept, but I'm not sure exactly how far it could be taken.

Would there be one central Jabba mission/story at a time or would there be many? If multiple people are carrying out orders for Jabba, then that would just thin out the "Jabba participating" population. Then again, if there is only one central line, it would slow things down quite a bit.

As far as orders always coming from one guy, I think orders should usually come from the same guy/group of guys, just to establish some sort of regularity with it all.

Yes, I was thinking almost exactly that. I envision the henchman would be one step below Bib Fortuna. He could even "RP" with Bib by whispering back and forth, etc. This allows for RP in the throne room, which I think would be very cool.

This henchman would be the primary interaction point for "Jabba". I had not considered having multiple henchmen.. good idea Dasumi.

Not for me, I always like to have my ideas start small.. that way if they fizzle, little is lost. With that in mind, how do we move this concept forward?

At minimum jabba is someone who hires people to do things. Who would these people be? Who is interested in working for Jabba?

Next.. Who are the "victims".. who is Jabba trying to muscle?

Any thoughts?

Side Note: E-Li, Dasumi and I did some ad-hoc RP in Jabba's the other night. E-Li was pretending to be a slave trader. We started to talking to some guy that none of us knew and he played along very well. He was thinking about buying Dasumi, but he was a little apprehensive about it.. LOL.

I can tell you part of Seret's background is he is heavily affiliated with Lady Valarian and not exactly on Jabba's good side. Jabba has no proof but he believes Seret screwed him on an arms deal, he just doesn't know how.

From Seret's side he simply keeps a distance from the Hutt. He doesn't need the heat if Jabba should come down on him with proof. Seret isn't above taking care of a few Jabba henchmen for Lady Valarien from time to time though.

So if you want to use Seret is any kind of RP schemes let me know. I'm open for anything. Just don't think you can keep secrets from me while in the palace. I have many eyes and ears. :D

It has potential to say the least. Let me know if this ever gets off the ground. Got a friend in game who'd probly be more than interested to participate in jabba related affiars.

You may be worth 100K to that Mon Cal, but you are worth far more to your current owner. :)

I look forward to hearing your ideas this weekend!!

Quick question. Since Jabba really has no control outside of Tatooine, would these quests all be held on that planet?
