Diplomat for German Players

Ok, here's a link to a german based community.

As Vreese just now I was assaulted by a Scout Trooper player in Theed and had the fortune of running into a Cijj character there shortly after turning my palms up and asking the Goddess to forgive her children.

::grins::

www.swgchronicles.net

He assured me that there were some German/English speakers among them and that their community was around 100 strong. Also, they've got a strong Imperial theme of RP. This could be what we're looking for. All be it time differences... maybe this'll spice up the weekends more.

I've told Cijj to sign up here and speak with Seret. Maybe we can merge our RPing a bit. :D

I've actually talked to a few of them several times and passed on the site to them. They're a good group of RPers. Last time I saw them, there were about 15 of them at the starport in ST armor and two officers doing random contraband checks.

Alright, here I am.

I took the chance and visited the cantina event on Naboo yesterday, trying to stay awake by enjoying some instant coffe, but after all it worked.
It was interesting to compare RP a bit and engage with some players of the "english RP community".
Apparently I even translated my character good enough and he didnt loose his "appearence" when I used english. It was difficult to find the right words at times, but overall it was a very interesting and pleasent experience and I made first ties to some "non-german" characters.

Well, reason I got here in the first place:
I just jumped on Vreese' RP, when she was muttering some blessings at the Theed Starport and we had a nice chat IC and also OOC.
She told me about swgtales and the english community on Gorath and I told her about german roleplayers and our try with swgchronicles in exchange.
Chronicles is, as I see it, an extention for into-detail RP coordination to SWG/DE (swg.gamigo.de), the official german Community, who is mostly located on Gorath.
(Actually I am a staffmember for Chronicles and Moderator for SWG/DE)

And because I always like meeting new people and bonding with other players, I suggested we might establish small links between both communities.
One idea that came up:
Imperial Roleplay.

Chronicles actually resulted from our efforts to establish the empire as an officially closed unit in the german RP community.
Officers aknowledge each other, Imperial Intelligence is not openly representing itself through Twilek dancers and all those other issues we had in the past.
We created a group of "officers" who are representing COMPNOR/ISB, Navy, Intelligence, Army, Stormtroopers etc. to have strong empire to work with. Afterwards we used to gather players who enjoyed playing the anonymous trooper around those officer characters, started with some events and created some small storylines around every part of the empire.

It worked better than we expected, so we began expanding the idea, started inviting people, we always wanted an open process, and are now aknowledged as a certain united empire and especially a community that may not be completely united, but we work together as much as we are able to and so on.
I already started talking to some people InGame about maybe putting together a small event, getting some players fond of english and maybe doing some contrabant search or anything.

I dont know what you think about it or if there is any other possibility of connecting a bit, but I would greatly welcome it.
There are problems with time difference, language and maybe even RP style (I noticed yesterday that the german RP is more lets say "controlled" by certain rules we established through talks and bad experience, nothing that should be understood as critizism on your way of roleplay), but overall there is a thing that unites all of us:

We are playing Star Wars Galaxies together.
We like getting into character, we are after all Roleplayers.

So much for my introduction, hope to catch some of you InGame and maybe have some nice roleplaying experiences.

Greetings,

Cijj Jodaij

PS: For those who actually read my biography - I am playing a kind of shizophrenic role with my account. Lt. Edro Jodaij is a role I get into for developing Imperial Roleplay. He is not Cijj, but in fact his uncle.
And sometimes you may see me getting into other NSC roles for events etc.
Just so you know :)

Welcome Cijj. :) I know most of us here would be thrilled to make further contacts and more friends in the RPing world. I really look forward to catching some people, despite time and language barriers.

Welcome Cijj :D

Please, I would really like to see those RP rules as well. Even if the different time zones prevents us from interacting for the most part, exchanging ideas and guidelines could help both communities.

Well, I just gave Dwilah an updated list of the weekly events from the german community. (whew..that sentence sounds weird)

Here is a link to a sticky on the german community board SWG/DE
LINK

It also links to the threads in which the event is dumped, talked about etc.
(I just saw that I need to update it a bit.)

I can not promise anything on how people willr espond if somebody doesnt understand german, but I know of a lot of players who are willing to roleplay in english, if needed.

Thank you for the link and the advice, Cijj. And I don't think that many of us will mind too much about tough responses due to the language barrier.

We have plenty of instances of not-so-good reaction to RP from professional english speakers as well

Oh, and to comment on the "rules" question Isleh stated above:

I wouldnt exactly call them rules, as they are mostly written down, they more some kind of silent agreement players made followong discussions and experiences since roleplay started in SWG.

For instance:
There is this Crime City called Kantara Cty. Everybody who lives and roleplays there has some kind of criminal background.
Some gangs are having ongoing wars, small criminals try to rip-off people who are new and so on.
The empire used to go there and get bad responses, so I and some other people talked to some of the key players there.
We found an agreement that said: For a criminal city, one "police officer" of the empire does not mean a threat. On Tatooine people disappear all the time.
So we kind of set up this rule in our head:
It would be logic that the empire always shows strength - nowadays controls there are involving at least 3 troopers and an officer to show some considerable strength.
In return the crime people keep low profile, for it is not good to have problems with the empire.

But because some rebels just recently overan an officer with his guars in Kantara City and the inhabitants rejected a medicin which was needed to stop the spreading of an infectious disease (all these things were played out incharacter), the empire simply made an example out of this city and overran it with a great force and massacred some people.
(It was great to see the troopers ran down the hills and see how they shot at everything, I was "victi" number 2)
This is a Link to a small thing the inhabitants of Kantara City did, to show the day after the massacre. Maybe you can translate some of the things I wrote

Now, Kantara City is considered cleaned by the empire and the surviving inhabitants are searching for somebody to make responsible or at least lynch him.
So at the moment, there is another silent agreement:
It makes sense that no Imperial would need to go there and he wouldnt want to go there eather, for he would get into heavy problems.

So it is all based on a lot of talking and experience, but these silent agreements make things easier in some situations, because everybody knows: There is always a responsibility to watch what consequences could emerge from your actions.

Maybe I made it a bit clear. If there are questions; ask :)

My MERCS had their first stronghold just outside Kantara City. I havent been there much since we moved into Nocturnus about a year ago...but I wouldnt mind paying a visit :)

Right now I am thinking about how we could do a first "get-in" between the communities.

I was thinking about having some troopers visit a cantina social event or something, but for that I have to get an overview of all these events, which means: I gotta visit them :)

I am no one who likes making an event without doing some research, in this case I want to find out what kind of players can be expected where and so on...helped in the past to avoid some problems.
Also I gotta get a list of german players willing and able (language-wise) to support me and then we shall see what the future holds for us.

I have to apologize for not putting my name on the Roleplayers list, for it is not directly that I wouldnt love Roleplaying with some people, its just a question of time.
Since my SWG time is heavily divided up between things, I dont want to say: oh yeah, please dont contact me between 5 and 8 on sundays.
But should we run into each other: I am happy if anybody is willing to roleplay with me :)
Hope you can accept these reasons.
