I HATE Nextel...

Post Reply
I can't get within 10ft of my computer or my stereo surround system in my living room with this f---ing phone cause it makes sputtering noises on the speakers everywhere I go. I am supposed to be on call for work 24/7, but this is getting rediculous. Same phone... getting worse. Anyone else with a Nextel experience this?

It isn't just Nextel. I have phones I use for work - some AT&T, some Verizon and they all make annoying noises on my computer/TV speakers. I have to leave my phone in my bedroom when I get home or esle I would have stomped on it by now.

check the frequency of your phones...if they are anywhere near 2.4 GHz, the problem will not go away.

Same thing happens in my truck. I always know when I am about to change towers or get a call. I never kept it close in the house even though I was on call as well. I always left it in the kitchen.

Hey Jabe,
Used to work for Nextel years back. Not a service issue...lots of phones act that way. Unfortunatley units made by motorola seem prone to have it happen. I have a V551 with cingular now and I have it happen in my car sometimes. Welcome to the 20th century :P

Ha Ha! I see through your evil genius plans =) You're a time traveller from the past!

It could all be a trick..don't listen to him Jabe. He could be trying to alter the time line here in the 21st century!

I don't know, I had that problem with cellphones back in the 20th century too.

I dunno - all my friends have cell phones and they don't do this or if they do its not half as bad as my phone.

And the model of phone I have could very well be over 5 years old. :D

On a side note... I'm starting to hate my Charter Cable service out of St. Louis. Seems like this damn thing goes out for a few hours or a day every few days. Next, I'll have this cellphone speaker thingy problem!

Well all I can say is I LOVE my Charter cable service here in Nashville. It's so much better then Comcast or Bellsouth. I have rarely ever had a problem.

Yeah, I'm not having a problem with my Charter Cable connection up here in the middle of nowhere Michigan either. Of course, it's either this or SBC DSL, and I'll skip anything to do wtih SBC.

Or with DSL, for that matter.

Speaking of Motorola and interference...

They installed a huge trunked radio system (for those of you that don't know what that is think nextel with just the walkie talkie feature) for DOD use in my area this past year. Now everyone in town with the older garage door openers or with a car alarm has had to get new ones. It seems the radios operate in the same frequency range.

Its really the manufacturer of the Garage door opener and car alarms that are at fault because they set there devices to operate in a government only band. But try getting the public to understand that.
