Congratulations: One Year of Operation

Post Reply
A year ago today, Seret, myself and Lok'i were finishing the final tests for the launch of this forum. Tomorrow the 29th will mark one year of public operation. I wanted to thank everyone who made this place what it is. There are so many names, I'd miss work if I tried listing them all!

Every person who comes here is a part of this forum's success. Along those lines, it is also with great pleasure that I announce an imminent milestone. We are 300 posts away from having more article's than SOE's roleplaying forum. A forum that covers all servers in SWG.

I am very proud of what is happening here. Something tells me we are likely one of the biggest roleplaying communities in Galaxies. What we have here, friends, is nothing that I will ever take for granted.

SWGTales.com and the people I've met through it have profoundly affected my gameplay, my role-play, and my life. I'm proud to have been a part of this place from the beginning though I'm not a founding member, and I'm proud of how we continue to grow and I'm especially proud of all the people who make this site what it is. That includes admins, moderators, forum users...even the people who post just once and then never come again.

The rough times this forum has seen, privately and publically, are always hard because regardless of what role we play in this community, we're all friends. I think that's what gives us our staying power, though...we mend and go on. We have creativity, originality, connections, resources, tenacity. We all work hard and play hard. We overcome everything from scheduling issues to role-playing style differences to really just come together as one unified whole.

That's what I'm always most proud of when I tell people about SWGTales, and they ask, is it a PA? And I say no, it's a collection of groups and cities. It's hard to grasp at first, I think...but everything we have here is so different and great.

Anyway...HUZZAH!!! HUZZAH!!! HUZZAH!!!

I would like to thank my fans, my agent, the academy...and most of all my oversized nads...for making this day possible for us all.

God bless 'em. Both of em.

The people and players from SWGTales are half the reason I keep coming back to this game.

Here's to a good year, and many more to come.

This place represents a personal dream come true for me.

(( Fast forward of you have heard this too many times already.. ))

About a year an a half ago I was in a RP wasteland. I had parted ways with the roleplayers I knew early on and was under the impression that there was little or NO interest in RP on Gorath.

With some luck, I bumped into a few RP'ers here and there, and through them met a few more. What I discovered was that there were small pockets of Roleplayers all over Gorath. I went out of my way to get to know as many of these people as I possible could. These little communities sometimes interacted with other groups, sometimes did not. Given the transient nature of MMO gamers, I was worried that these small groups would eventually wither and die.

What to do about this?

The other problem I saw was this.. How can roleplayers find eachother in this mess? I just happened to by lucky to find some. What if there are others like me who have not been able to find other roleplayers?

I had no clue. I wish there were a way to bring everone together. But there wasn't... or so I thought.

After a botched event, I received a message of sympathy from Zannon along with an invite to his forum. The intent of that was for Gorath Game Masters to get together and make events happen. That was around the time Jabe, Loki, and Seret were building this place.

Then my eyes opened. We need to bring everyone here! This is how we can bring all these scattered groups together! This is how roleplayers can find eachother!!

So I invited everyone I could think of (I think I jumped the gun, the site was not 100% ready and I got yelled at, but that is nothing new. :D ), and those people did the same.. and so on, and so on.

(( okay, you can stop fast forwarding ))

I never imagined a forum could enhance my enjoyment of the game this much. I can RP, and tell my stories, in game AND out.

So, I want to thank the creators and caretakers and all the participants for helping to make this community so wonderful. *HUGE GROUP HUG*
