According to the definitive source on the subject ("The History of the Mandalorians," Star Wars Insider #80), the Mandalorians were once (tens of thousands of years ago) a specific gray-skinned and warlike species. Over time, they became a religious sect known for treating war as a divine object in itself. Any coming battle that promised holy carnage would be labeled a "crusade." After the defeat of Mandalore the Ultimate around the time of the Old Sith Wars, many of the surviving Mandalorians evolved into something that was more a mercenary group than a religious sect. These are the Mandalorians encountered in the Knights of the Old Republic game, and by this time many (if not most) are actually Human, though they can be of any species. Thousands of years later, after the Mandalorian Civil War, Jango Fett is the last remaining True Mandalorian -- and Jango, obviously, is human as well. (For more details, read the complete article in Insider.)
You CAN be a Mandalorian.
so where's the part about YOU CAN be a mando?Jerrel wrote: Thousands of years later, after the Mandalorian Civil War, Jango Fett is the last remaining True Mandalorian -- and Jango, obviously, is human as well.
if jango's the last, then you CAN'T be a mando
and you might want to add, jango WAS the last mando, since he kinda misplaced his head...
so Boba fett could be the last mando, if a clone of a mando even counts

Well the mandaloria ideals never died out just the people. I remember hearing about how they slowly came back a while after the empire joined the new republic. They did not do very much though from what I heard.

- Mandalorian Mercenary
Jango is the last True Mandalorian SuperCommando, not the last of the mandalorian people. That culture of beings were pretty much bread out of existance when the Mandalorian Mercs came about.
The Mandalorian Mercs split into 2 factions once Jaster Mareel took over as Mandalor. His strict code of ethics was to much for the more ethically depraved members, and they split off under the leadership of Vizula to become the Mandalorian Death Watch.
However, in the current time-line of the game Alpha02 (better known as Mandalor the Resurector) is running around trying to reform the SuperCommandos based on memories he has of Jango's life.
So anyone can be a mandalorian, but its hard being one without looking it.

Any idea and belief can be reserected. Just look at the Sith. One guy passes it on to the next and so on and if you count the extended universe then you count the numerous guys who just discovered writing on the Sith and went dark following their teachings.Skorixor wrote:so where's the part about YOU CAN be a mando?Jerrel wrote: Thousands of years later, after the Mandalorian Civil War, Jango Fett is the last remaining True Mandalorian -- and Jango, obviously, is human as well.

BTW I'm not sayig every one should go out and say hey I'm a mando. I just found info that you could with in rp terms say you are. I do this cause I recall (either on these boards or on SOE's) that I argued that you shouldn't become a mando, and that the idea of a mando class was absured. I had this opinion mainly due to the belief that the Mando's were a race and not a philosophy. Now I have found info contradicting that believe so I am shareing it as an acknowledgement of my mistake.

And there should be only 2 Jedi in this game... :/Skorixor wrote:I have a tshirt that says PORNSTAR
BUT there isn't and there never will be so I would actually would like to see something other than becoming a Jedi as the be-all-end-all in SWG. Mandalorian is just as acceptable if not more so since the Empire is actually trying to preserve some part Mandalorian legacy rather than snuff it out.
Also, If you accept the story from "Tales from Jabba's Palace", Boba did not die in the belly of the sarlacc. He overloaded his backpack so it exploded and then prodeeded to kick the sarlacc's butt from the inside.

You could be a mandalorian the same way that gang of Sith Outcasts claims to be Sith. It's the ideals and teachings more than genetics or rights of birth.
Just get the "How to be a Mandalorian for Dummies" our of the Theed library, it's a very useful source book if it's not rented....

I thought that the Mandalorians (like in kotor1/2) were near-humans. They lived on their own planet and everything and were still humans for the most part but they were more like one family of humans... Race, yeah they are a race of humans. That's why in Star Wars they say species when referring to ehh, different species.. Instead of race like in EQ, WoW etc.
So sure, you CAN be a Mandolorian... Just look it :P

Interesting factoid, George Lucas is the one that signed off on the story of ressurecting Boba Fett. On the DVD commentary for Return of the Jedi, he ever states that he contemplated putting a scene in the SE showing Boba climbing out of the Sarlacc, but it just didn't fit in the film anywhere. If George Lucas says so, it is cannon.Isleh wrote:And there should be only 2 Jedi in this game... :/Skorixor wrote:I have a tshirt that says PORNSTAR

Yup.. pretty much everything that happens in the books that's major is signed off by Lucas.. Boba's return, the deaths of a few characters in the New Jedi Order books, all of it.
The only EU i don't consider to be of any salt is SWG itself. It's like a parallel Star Wars... i guess we got to close to a tacheon field or something :p
