I figured id be a good person to start this considering my exploits against the bad guys.
We need villians. Dont call them bullies we need to be bullied. What is rp without someone to hate ic. Toront is my most feared opponet ic, ooc i think hes a great guy and i seek his advice about jedi stuff all the time. Many ppl including myself in the past get mad that these villians are bullying us. Why would they not bully the rebellion they are imperials!
I am throwing in my 2 cents to open a dialogue. I want everyone to come to terms with the fact that we need bad guys. I need someone that can push me around , that scares me, someone that i know better than to approach without help. Lets accept our "bully's" as the villiains that we need to make rp great. Most major rp bad guys are alts. Its time the rp mains step into the lime light as bad guys. For ppl we talk about and hope to one day conquer. I know its a shock for me to say this stuff but its true. I look forward to her others opinions

I thank you for the kind words Duox. What I am getting frustrated about is the constant statements about TTF's "bad reputation", which I usually hear in passing but never really get explained or specific examples.
Right now, most of our more active members, and long time guildmates, are Imperial. Malchiah, Nyvveck, Alonzo, myself to name a few. I remember reading a post not too long back saying how people missed the old time RP days, where people would inspect players as Storm Troopers and such. At Scum and Villainy, we try this and get accused of "bullying".
From now on, if a TTF member in full storm trooper armor asks to see your ID, if you do not want a fight or problems, comply, and we'll move on. If you're up for a confrontation, fail to show the ID, maybe send a quick tell to say how you hope it will go (i.e, just a 1v1, or his friends will harass the ST too, etc.) We like our RP with a slice of PvP always.
What I really don't want are people to feel that we do this to interrupt their RP. We are just trying to get some of what we are looking for, through a spontaneous interaction. If it doesn't interest you, take the 5s to write a "shows ID to the Trooper" emote and it's done.
Also, please don't hide behind the /duel command. If you have the gall to call the Emperor names or bad mouth our guild, put action behind it. I have a /punch repeating macro. I hate to have to use it, but sometimes I am frustrated to no end by someone with a big mouth that will not accept duels, or accepts "selected" duels.
Finally, if anyone has any problems with any member of TTF over any matter of RP, I ask that you PM one of the leaders here or the official forums or in-game (Malchiah, Alonzo or myself). We constantly have a slew of players in the guild that are new to the RP community, sometimes there are nuances we still need to teach them. Perhaps hearing things directly will help to let us be the "bad guys" people love to hate, rather than "that RP guild with the bad rep".

He is right about that i was called very inappropriate names by a member of the ttf that was new. Alonzo quickly talked to him and i was appologized to by the player.
I also agree though in the past i havent that they are just increasing the rp experience. Showing the id usually solves all problems but if your like me and ready to fight then do so they are up for that to. Most the ttf are villains that will back it up making it that much more intriguin
. To many more incaps by your hand toront /cheers

The only player that I ever had a problem with (will remain nameless) had a habit of making bad rp moves to try to get attention. Once i realized what he was doing I just started ignoring him or letting him go through with what ever he was threatening to do. He didn't like that much. I dropped it (never was one to hold a grudge) then later on he came back and started harassing me. Nyvveck was with me when it happened, it really frustrated me.
If you want to rp with me thats fine I love rp and will play along anytime. But if you choose to be a jerk to me or to make bad rp moves over and over to try to get my attention I won't respond well to that. This nameless rper had his friends with him and quickly made me into the bad guy, which i thoroughly did not appriciate (I'm really not a mean person at all).

I love being a villian. Having the power to have a nad attitude with the only reason to live is my own personal gain. It is awasome to be able to be a little different then everyone elles because I chose a side that is not working for others and involved in drama.
One of my favorite things about Jam is his ability to get results without worrying about others and how under that Ubese is one bad mo fo who is ready to rip your arms off.

I kind of went off on a few people at the last S&V, for this same stuff.
You see, i'm tired of being told "don't interfere with my way of RP"
people have different "ways to rp" yes, this includes some very trivial things like: i use "OOC:" to denote an ooc remark, many use "((message))" there are some others like people who generally learned to rp via MUDs will use the /emote command as such: /emote walks into the room, "Hello everyone", and has a seat at the bar
HOWEVER, i am NOT going to accept that "your style" of rp makes it ok to be a rebel who slaps imperial officers, calss the emperor a fat asshole, and THEN refuses to accept a duel from imperials on the scene to shut them up. THat's not a different style of rp, that's BAD rp. That's horrible rp.
We had an "ambush" at S&V...now this is a neverending issue with mass pvp in rp (no overtness) because everyone must /duel everyone THEN wait (kind of an ooc pause) for EVERYONE to accept before they begin..what ALWAYS happens, one group starts attacking first....not accepting all duels...this happened.
I find myself in a 4v1... now could i have easily started /ending duels with people who not accepting my groupmates? yes...did i? no because after it was said and done i didn't want someone to be able to go "zo ended the duel to save his ass" So i sat there, 4v1, and while I managed to win, it still should not have went down that way. Since i had TWO friends standing there ooc going "accept please, please come on we're a group, accept our duels" I think nyvveck FINALLY got an accept but Oryri NEVER got an accept, but that didn't stop a couple others, especially Roryk (yes i name names, the only way people stop doing these things are when the community openly disapproves, not saying flame them but you have to show that the community does NOT like it) from bashing poor arnir who received the same treatment with a 3v1 when roryk and others wouldn't accept the duels.
Bottom line though, there are DIFFERENT styles of rp, but BAD RP is universal, and imperials who ask for IDs and are generally "rough" towards you is hardly off base.
Just a couple words to close for some who read this board in general, this one without naming names as when they read this...people know who they are...
There is a lot of OOC trash talking going on about TTF, me personally, and for some even the Roba. Gossip spreading, lies to new roleplayers, etc. Messed up, cheap, OOC lies. For those who THINK they are sneaky little gossip hounds, your friends with big ears for listening usually have bigger mouths for blabbing and we find out pretty quickly. I have tried polite ways of handling this with several of the issues. I am going to make one final plea on this board:
Stop the OOC bullshit towards the guild. If you have an issue take it up with a guildleader, you know who we are, cause if you are trash talking TTF i am betting its 99% likely you know me or toront, malch or nyvveck at least if not more. I have asked this community (that's what we're supposed to be right?) to SUPPORT each other by taking our backs when this starts, and in the 2-3 times members have had a chance, they chose to sit back and not interfere. After a few words that were sid at S&V to put icing on the cake, TTF is very close to voting on keeping to our own events, and basically withdrawing from other rp events. We're really tired of the immature highschool cheerleader style gossip that goes on and everytime i meet a total newb to the rp scene who ALREADY dislikes ttf yet can't name one member, i get pretty pissed off. So i'm not saying this as a threat to scare, i am not trying to say "omg you'll lose ttf so you better stop" i know some people couldn't care less. But i'm just giving a public announcement so that if we go toa vote, and we decide to keep out, there's a REASON and maybe it'll stop 5% of the gossip about us being elitist, or jerks, or whatever.
So let's recap this semi-angry rant shall we?
a) Stop calling us bullies for RPing good imperials
b) RP styles vary, BAD RP is universal and should be frowned upon
c) Stop the OOC gossip and trash talking
d) Stop telling us to respect everyone elses personal wishes of how they want their character's one man movie to go, while condemning our actions.
e) If we don't start seeing more support from the community when these outburts occur, we will go to a vote about vanishing back into our own rp setups and stick solely to the rp ties we made long before this site, S&V, etc etc was ever around.
On a more friendly sidenote:
4v1?!?!?!?! Pizzzzzowned! lol j/k
was fun guys, it really was kinda lopsided anyway, i fight full template jedi ALL the time so my foods/gear are meant to take huge saber hits and stuff, things blaster just don't compare to and half of you guys weren't wearing armor (i wans't wearing my helm hehe but i luck out that i just like my padded armor's look (other than helm) )
TTF has encountered this issue many times and in the future if you like, there are a couple decent ways around the issue

TTF has encountered this issue many times and in the future if you like, there are a couple decent ways around the issue

I have to admit it, but, in this case, I have to agree with Alonzo. It bothers me to no end when I see SW continuity and RP continuity ruined by people playing rebels and slapping around the Imp and being disrespectful. One of the best RP scenes I've ever had was when TTF arrested me at the Roba a long while back (and I can't believe I had forgotten about it until today). Thinking back on it, it's kinda sad that they were so suprised that I RPed it without Zannon acting like he's a big bad ass, but rather having him take the submissive route because they clearly had the upper hand.
Personally, I like to get hassled, I like to have my normal RP/routine interruped by someone else's good RP. One of my biggest gripes about how some RP is played out is that some of us tend to be unflexable and unable to adapt when a passerby tries to take part in what is going on. I remember a story X'an told me when he started getting fed up with the RP in SWG. He was at the Roba with his real life wife and someone was poisoned. Keer I think was suspected and people were trying to figure out how to find him. X'an's wife kept saying that she knew where he lived and maybe they should start there...but she was just ignored so that the structured RP could go on and not even acknowledged.
I think we all need to learn how to think more on our feet and adapt our RP to the people around us so that EVERYONE's style of RP is more easily accepted. Personally, I think that being able to react realistically to the events around us and still be able to develop the plots we want to do is what makes us good RPers...RP is a group effort, if it wasn't, we'd all just be standing around RPing with the shuttle ticket takers for hours on end. Everyone wants to be the bad ass, but no one seems to want to be a part of a bigger picture and a more realistic part of the SW universe.
And as for TTF...I've gained more respect for them than any other guild over the past 2 months. I'm sorry that my reaction to them in the past wasn't as positive as it should have been, but I was basing that on a few bad apples. I really do have a lot of respect for their RP...I think they add a lot of legit RP to being a part of the Empire.

Conflict is good for RP. Good villains have always been in short supply.
I've always loved belligerent imperials. I was Tramel's biggest fan. He was cocky, condescending, bullying, belligerent, and I loved every second of it.
Harressment is a wonderful excuse for RP. Think of it as an invitation to RP, just like Toront outlined. I think that is perfect.
As to Zo's rant.. I can appreciate the concerns. Give people a chance to adopt the /duel convention in RP settings. Maybe we need to have a few positive experiences with it and it will become accepted as a common practice.
If we are thinkning about the same scene, then Xan's wife was ignored. That is sucky (personally I can't stand it when that happens to me), but it is also a very realistic possibility.
Do we need to do a better job of integrating "passers-by" into an RP scene? Always.

Many of us play "supporting roles" to add flavor and depth to the galaxy.Everyone wants to be the bad ass, but no one seems to want to be a part of a bigger picture and a more realistic part of the SW universe.
If Sepiv was the one that was poisoned then I think I remember the scene in question. That scene I am thinking of was completely ad-hoc an no one was "running it" per se. There were about half a dozen people offering suggestions. It was chaotic. Ekade is not the kind of character who typically goes hunting for people, so I believe I was staying true to my character by staying with Sepiv. One of my biggest gripes about how some RP is played out is that some of us tend to be unflexable and unable to adapt when a passerby tries to take part in what is going on. This has always been a tricky situation. To a degree everyone plays theirs as the "main character" whether they admit to it or not. Some players are willing to go with the flow of what happens "naturally" and some want to cling to a particualr storyline they have dreampt up.Novall wrote:This point alone has been the driving force behind me re-thinking my leadership status on this community board over the last 7 days.Viceroy Odantis wrote:

PnP solves this problem in that there is a GM running the show and the players know they are subject to what the GM decides. Here it is much more tricky.

Well I am not going to ever pull the one man movie stunt as how you guys say it. I am a bounty hunter and the few succesful bounty hunters had to work alone. It is how it goes. If I were anything elles my total rp changes. Heck once I unlock jedi Jaminos will change into a group oriented charecter who is going to keep out of drawing attention to himself and go with the flow.
Mabey I am a loner I do not really care what people think anymore. As long as I can rp and have fun doing it then it matters little to me what people think. As a villian I am not trying to attract attention but more of gain personal power with the most descrete way possible. I am just like that way.
Well I guess I am not a huge villian but not scum...scum is the controled. I do not care about standing in rp. Let there be evil masterminds and tons of loners it is not that importent. I stay true to the star wars universe and apply all my knowledge I can to how I act and do things. My charecter is not intimadated by big name people but he is intimidated by those whofind ways around his berriers into his life.
Though Again I am all talking from my prospective.

The problem is, a couple times we have been called out at the various rp events...people who i would consider almost "officers" if you will, of the community formed here at swgtales and such...they stand idly by...if it was the other way around...i would be like "hey whoa, back off, this person knows how to rp, you are making an ass of yourself, you are ruining realistic rp for the area, so its you that needs to watch the tone" or if the scene allowed it even a much more polite "hey, look, what they are doing is just a very realistic, and therefore good rp, way of acting as imperials....as a rebel in this time period you're supposed to fear them, hide from them...but if you do stand up...you should accept a duel or something because it kills the realism to watch one lone rebel slap a squad of stormtroopers around" i mean even the NPC stormtroopers incap your ass for being that kind of a tard now...oh what i'd give for that power lol.
It just seems everyone takes a "hugs and kisses" approach to every conflict rather than being willing to go "you know what, you're chewing someone out when you are the one in the wrong, you need to be more open about how to rp, scripted storylines and trash talking are only one aspect (each)
Part of the problem is that sometimes people aren't going to listen, even to community leaders here. The best way is to go to their guild leader, not to jump to conclusions, and remember to stay calm with everything.
I would say everything is not so much hugs and kisses as it is casual and staying at a respectful distance. If someone is running an event, talk to them and ask them to do something about the abuse.
If there is something happening at a free, open event that is not modded in any way, which we have one (Scum and Villany Night), then I would say we as a community should probably suggest a way of dealing with these types of people.
a) Attempt a polite, OOC communication requesting what you'd like.
b) If OOC request is ignored, move on to other RP for the time being.
c) If harassment or griefing occurs and OOC communcation is ignored, contact their guild leader. If they are guildless, ignore them.
I think an important thing to remember here is that if you continue attempting to RP with people who refuse OOC communication, you're inviting their harassment and your RP could be viewed as harassment by them. This could quite possibly be a key point where communication has broken down and a simple difference of RPing styles has turned into anger, frustration, and bad reputations on all sides.
