No, I'm not gonna throw out any spoilers for those who have yet to read it. No guarantees about people responding tho, so be forewarned.
Anyone know if Trent Reznor can act? I keep picturing him as Voldemort. Then, of course, the series could end with a rock show. I thoughoughly enjoyed the most recent book. This fix should last at LEAST a coupla weeks. So when is 7 due out now?
In case you haven't seen the trailer for the 4th movie:

I just finished Harry Potter 6 and..(no longer spoiler free)
I <3 me some Harry Potter. I like where the series seems to be pointing, though I found Halfblood to be a little awkward in places...like Rowling knew she should put some stuff in (aka teenage horniness), but didn't really feel comfortable writing it. That's really my only nitpick, though. I like the way the style and the characters are maturing. Movies? I think they're all pretty well done and I enjoy them a lot.

From what I've scrounged up over the internet, Ralph Fiennes is supposed to be Voldermort. I dunno - I always pictured ole Voldy as bald and really narrow faced. I'm sure it'll be fine 'n' all - they've gotta get him right, he's the main incarnation of eeevil. Although they have some folks from Radiohead and Pulp playing the Weird Sisters band, which could be interesting. And Brendan Gleeson kinda looks like what I pictured Mad Eye Moody as....
I'm wondering who they're gonna get to play Tonks (merely because she's my fav character...). And I'm hoping that they don't 'kiddie' down the next two books when transfering them too movie. Please, retain the maulings, unforgivable curses, falls from towers...
But yeah, I'm a rambling Potter Geek. There's supposed to be a new trailer coming out for it soon (it was shown at ComicCon) that has footage of Mad Eye and Voldermort and a bouncing ferret I think...

Not that I particularly care for any of Rowling's witchy ilk or their years in magic school, I do have to say that I am sure Ralph Fiennes will be sufficiently creepy as the incarnation of pure evil. He is kind of creepy to begin with. In Red Dragon he was good and creepy. Even though the movie was relatively sub-par.
Just promise me this, all of ye Potter-heads...don't sit through the movie and tell me what is missing from the book or that "this scene is supposed to be different". There is a reason I didn't read the books...because I don't particularly care for books. You and the 700,000 other suckers whou dished out 26 dollars (even with the 10% discount at Border's) the day the book came out (despite the fact that I saw it for 20 not a week later) to blaze through the next chapter in the saga can sit in a pow wow and talk about why the book was infinitely better than the movie without having to tell me about it.
Thankee very much.

ordered and plan on wearing it to every bookstore i can

My wife picked it up for $16 on the day it came out at Target. I wasn't even planning on getting it till it came down in price. Just happened to be day 1.
So Krusshyk can bite my nads. And the books are better cuz I can continue to picture Reznor as the big baddie. Nah nah nah.

Reznor sounds like a better Snape than a Voldy.
I like the choice of Ralph Fiennes for Voly though. Like Krusshballs said, he's got a knack for evil. In an interview with the director he said they wanted Voldemort to be charismatic and he was their first choice. I'll buy that for a dollar.

That shirt kicks all forms of ass...including Dooo's.
Dwi's observation screams, "My ass, lady."
It's kind of funny you mention that...I caught a part of some special on tv a week ago or so whilst surfing where they were talking to her and she was talking (in a quite uppity manner, I felt) about how she refuses to let her audience dictate what she writes.Dwilah wrote:...I found Halfblood to be a little awkward in places...like Rowling knew she should put some stuff in (aka teenage horniness), but didn't really feel comfortable writing it...

Mancow read the end of it on the radio and said that Dumbledorf dies and that Snape is the halfblood prince. I don't know what that really means since I never read any of the books. I thought Dumbledorf already died after the first movie?

What are we talking about again? Oh. I have never seen any of the movies or read any of the books. My wife seems to like them all though.

I dont know how everyone gets their undies in an uproar about it.
I did think the movies were somewhat interesting, but the whole "I'm a boy witch" thing is kinda wimpy for me. What happened to GI-Joe?

What makes Harry Potter so interesting, and why my creative writing teacher in high school had us read the first one before it became wildly popular, was because it introduces kids to the idea that there's a lot of gray area in the world, good guys and bad guys can be a lot of the same thing (it may sound silly but it can go down to looking at things like the fact that Dumbledore and Voldemort have the same number of syllables in their names), Harry Potter's a figure that people can relate to (lot of people see themselves as beat on and ordinary--what, could *I* be special too?), and all kinds of other fun stuff. It deals with very dark stuff for kids' novels...though it sort of dances around saying some of the things flat out....the very first chapter in the very first book is titled, "The Boy Who Lived." Implying of course, there's people who didn't survive....dark stuff for kids' books. Aaanyway...I'm glad my teacher in high school had my class read it. I would have heard about it as the craze got bigger but I probably just would have written it off.

I didn't read the first one till after the 3rd was already out. Heard about the craze and could care less. I read it because it was there on the shelf (since my wife buys lotsa books) and enjoyed it. I find that I like alotta "children's" books even though I usually read much heavier fiction. Some of my favorite kids books are Potter, Rings & Hobbit, Pratchett and my favorite is probably Lord of the Flies.
So no undy uproar here. Just like em. And He-Man kicks Joe's ass.

I've avoided the series because, from what little I know about it, it seems very kid oriented. I love kids and all, but I don't like stories/adventures where "kids" act adults, especially in the action scenes. Kids panic and cry in stressful situations. To see them act with utter cool and calm under fire.. it just blows my suspension of disbelief.
I have no clue if Harry Potter is like this or not, I just kind of assumed it was. I may very well be speaking out of total ignorance here, if so I apologize.
Kids are wonderful and amazing creatures, but they are kids. I thought Home Alone was the stupidest movie ever because the kid was like a genius and the adults were utterly stupid. That whole concept has no appeal to me whatsoever.
